best polishing technique

ive got some new olde parts that i want to bring back to life with a nice shiny shiny polish.

whats the best way to achieve this, i fail to believe that i need to sit there for hours polishing it with a rag and some brasso.

how can i speed up the proccess and get the best results? any tips/techniques to share?

A bench grinder with polishing wheels/compounds or a Dremel with the same.

I have also used sand paper with increasing fineness (starting at 600 or so and finishing with 2000) and finishing with Mothers or Semichrome but that is time consuming but delivers good results.
