Help with color combinations...

So, I bought this Peugeot, and I just cannot stand the white seat, and grips. I was planning on installing new tape, and seat, and I was planning on plain old black. Can you guys think of any other color that would look good? My wife was thinking gray, but there are just not that many saddles that are gray. Also, I am planning on making it kinda retro mod, with aero brake levers, and updated components if that has any affect on the colors.

Thanks, Jarrod

Personally I prefer white. But if you really want to change it then I would say honey Brooks saddle with matching colored bar tape. Maybe even try some cloth tape with Shellac.

Well, honestly I like the white but...I can't quite make out in the picture if the frame is gray or light blue. It looks blue on my monitor. In that case I would recommend a blue saddle and bar tape. Something like this Mundialita saddle on eBay right now:

As I was opening this thread, I was wondering if the bike would look good with a white saddle/white bar tape combination...

White saddles make me think of white shoes, a white belt and a plaid doubleknit sport coat.

Common 70s bike-racer kit was black saddle and white tape; but your bike is 80s or even 90s. I have a light blue metallic bike that I've ridden for many years with black saddle/tape and gray rims. Staid, but looks nice with the anodized/chrome parts for accent. Turbos are often for sale in yellow. I got some orange Cateye tape recently on a whim.

That's quite the toolchest you have (or is it a "techno" dining room credenza?).

I'd stick with white/white, too... but if you're set on something else, I'd go with a plain black saddle and some gray Tressostar cloth tape. You could always match some red or yellow to those Peugeot stripes, too

Honey saddle, honey tape, gum hoods. Or yellow saddle, yellow tape, gum hoods.
