What's your holy grail?

I've seen a few posts on here recently from people saying they finally got their "holy grail" or something along those lines, which makes me curious about what everybody else's holy grail would be.

For me it's hard to say; I've never ridden Italian steel, a Paramount, a high-end tourer, etc, etc, so I don't have much foundation to make a decision.

So what's your holy grail? And while we're at it, why is it your holy grail?

Late 80's Bottecchia SLX/Record or early 90's Bottecchia TSX/Record frame with C-Record components in the red/white/chrome color scheme. I'd also like a 1950's - early 60's all chrome Bottecchia as well. I like the way Bottecchia produced a solid, classic Italian bike that just consistantly oozed style over the years even with the changing fashions of the time. The red/white/chrome SLX or TSX/Record model is, I think, perhaps the most beautiful factory bicycle ever built.

Remarkably, I've managed to find nearly all of my holy grails in the last few months. There's almost nothing left on my list. Not only that, but I'm seriously running out of room. And, there's something about obsessive acquisitiveness that bothers me a bit. All that said, there are still a few bikes that are on my list. Not necessarily my holy grail, because I've already found my holy grails, but bikes still on my list:

1971 Raleigh Record-- what I'd really like is to discover that the '71 Record I sold to a friend in 1977 is still hanging in his garage, unused since the day he bought it. Absent that, I've got another one in mind that I really should pull the trigger on.

Early 1970s Gitane Tour de France.

And in a nod to modernity, there's a certain Italian marque that shares my name. It would be fun to have a bike with my name on the down tube.

None of those is really a holy grail, just some things to cross off my list. And other than those, I'm really just about done...

Although who knows, it may be that an interesting bike pops up and persuades me otherwise.

Somebody recently posted a bright green Bottechia cyclocross bike here that I really could be persuaded to look for...

My holy grail used to be a curly stayed Hetchins. It would be nice, but recently I fallen in love with earlier bikes. I'd love an original Pederson, particularly with the three speed hub, and a Moulton Speed...

... But my ultimate holy grail bike would have to be this:

a Mochet Velocar.

As a swede I pretty much got it; one high end Crescent and one high end Monark, both from the 70“s. But, it would be great to find high end bikes made by Gudereit, Puch or of dutch making.

Even though I love Italian brands I'd have to go along with a curly stay Hetchins too.

Well, really it's a Lotus 49B, but now we're really talking "Holy Grail" where, like, choir music appears mystically in the background and a ray of light pierces the clouds.

1935-1940 Frejus with Vittoria Margherita. Team bike would be a bonus. Here is Olympio Bizzi's,

It's the best picture of one I have. Kind of sad.

Certainly there are holier grails than my desires, but I feel pretty fulfilled:

69 and 70 Raleigh Pros.
Chrome 72 Paramount road and restored 75 track.
70s Zeus.
60s Falcon.
Couple Legnanos.
Hetchins Magnum Opus.
50s Olmo.
Couple 60s Carltons.
84 Cinelli
Plenty more.

I guess the only thing I always wanted and never had is a curved seat tube Jack Taylor.

My holy grail is still being made... a JP Weigel randonneur. I just can't afford it!

Ive never actively sought out a bike, I just seem to have a lucky knack for having good bikes show up in front of me and having things work out.

My grail isn't built. Largely because I haven't become a framebuilder.
What it is, though. A tourer, lugs with triangle reinforcements, little fork trail (to have a prewar bike look to it), British racing green with BB and headtube painted a lighter shade of green, all lugs outlined in gold. Chrome plated chainstays, 1/4 plated seatstays and 1/3 plated fork ends. Internal cable routing for electrics, full braze-ons/eyelets, canti-studs, spokeholders, integrated pump pegs on the rear of the seattube. No idea as to threaded or threadless headset yet.
Only known components are Hammered Honjos, and a laced honey Brooks B17 champion special with matching bar tape. Also custom built racks compatible with the internal wiring.
Good enough answer?
