I believe my bike is a 1960's Raleigh, but don't know the model. If you have any information at all please reply.

That's sooo cool, i'd say 70's. Makes me think of Hotwheels toy cars.
A mirror would be very sweet. Rectangular.

Keep the chain guard, that bike requires you to wear flared trousers. Mullet, moustache, vinyl sportjacket, Mirrored CHP wireframe sunglasses. REAL 14K gold zodiac pendant or sharks tooth.
Urban hipster.

I would re upholster the seat if needed, exotic deep blue vinyl with gold fleck.
Practice riding slow, smile at the ladies.

Yes I am kinda serious..

Clean the chrome and dress cool.

jef.

Cheers jef! That's really cheered me up- I thought I'd get lots of replies telling me how rubbish it is.

Andy :)

Is it a folder? It looks like some of the folding commuter designs I've seen...

Like you know, kids, bike freaks custom old bikes like these for weekend showoff rides. Summer boardwalk fun. Ever seen a 3 speed toptube stick-shift kids bike? Banana seats, super high back rests.
I'm jealous really. I want one.

I'm not suggesting Ebay, but...desirable to some, for sure.
http://bikerodnkustom.homestead.com/ go through links ect. Lottsa ideas out there.

Thrift stores and garage sales are the way to go...but the time this stuff gets to ebay it's usually out of my price range...

Looks like a Raleigh Twenty.
You'll find a 2-digit date code on the rear hub.

It's not a raleigh 20 and I can't see a date code on the hub. :(

Thanks anyway,

Andy

I don't think it is because it says 'Raleigh' and 'Nottingham, England' on the front. :(

Cheers anyway,

Andy

Well, gonna sit around wondering what model it is? Looks like you have more important things to do.

Steel wool-course then fine and polish then clearcoat enamel paint for chrome\steel.
Works for spokes, rim ect and can prolong life.
I'd strip the bike and regrease hubs, inspect for squared bearings if any moving frame integral components that grind or click.
Remove and replace all those rusty bolts-

Don't even ride it with a chain like that, it'll grind off what remains of the teeth you have. If that was a geared bike with the chain through the rear triangle-I wouldn't look for the master link, I'd use bolt cutters.

Jef.

P.s. Keep or get a new kickstand. Few bikes look good with them- yours does.

You sure? As I understand, there was a Twenty that was NOT a folder. Hmm, maybe the hub is a replacement...

Hi
The bike in question is called a Raleigh Commando
I have one sat in my shed with a 1976 hub date(S/A)
Mine is black as well but they also came in orange and a very cool camoflage paint job
I think the frame design is taken from a non-folding raleigh twenty. I believe they are becoming more sought after as the Raleigh Chopper prices are going through the roof!
Renovate or ride its your call

Leigh
