What model is my Schwinn?

I am rebuilding a Schwinn into a fixed gear. The code on it is FR548749 and on the badge it is 2210 So I know it was built in 1980. But what model is it? How do I find this out? here is a picture link. I painted the bike and have done stuff to it... http://www.flickr.com/photos/36936770@N03/3402424701/

Perhaps look through the 1980 catalog to match it up?

What part of it should I take a picture of? it has many new components since I started working on it and is painted florescent yellow... I am thinking it is either a Continental or a Varsity Deluxe but am unable to distinguish

WHy not throw a rear brake on it? As far as weight goes it would be a drop in the bucket on a Varsity, and might save your knees

Let's try not to be so rude to our new members...this isn't the road bike forum.

Looks like a fun ride. Varsity's aren't really worth much but that could be a good thing for an everyday beater bike. Next time try to take off the headset cups before painting. I remove them by carefully hitting them out with a spare straight piece of handlebar tubing and a hammer.

A Kool Lemon Varsity--- but--- in 1980, a Varsity did not come in any shade of yellow. So I was thinking that it was not a 1980, but more like an '70-'74, but the serial number also points to 1980, F=June and R=1980. So what else was yellow? Looks as if only the Heavy Duty came in Golden Yellow. So was it repainted? Or is the "R" in the serial number more like an "H" (1972) or a "K" (1974)???? Both those years had Kool Lemon Varsitys.

I sanded and painted the bike. It was originally red if that helps

"Drew'd" means that braze-ons where hacked off.

Killing kittens happens when parts are hacked off. Supposedly.

So, were you just trying to embarrass me?

BTW, welcome to C&V. Just don't act like Drew or kill kittens.

haha no i was not trying to embarrass you. if you had fully read the OP you would have seen that I am a newbie and have painted the bike and done stuff to it. meaning put new parts on it and converted it to a single speed fixed gear. Thanks for helping me figure out what model it is. much appreciated.

I'm heading to bed and putting all this April Fools nonsense behind me as I change my avatar back to its more Schwival style.

Sorry I missed the original reference to you "painting it." My bad. Good night!
