Fuji Team 80s... Good deal??

Hello fellow Freds.... I found this listing if SF craigslist...

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/bik/1114787553.html

Firstly, is this a good deal. Seller is willing to go lower... I just need a beater bike (1st 3 bikes in signature are sold)

Secondly, anyone knows what steel frame this bike is made of? Reynolds 531, Tange, Columbus SL??? And any ballpark figure on the weight of this bike....

Thank you kindly

Looks like it is a 1985. 22.5 lbs. And, we are not Freds.

If your the end user thats a little on the high side but its my understanding the SF market is very competitive. I recently sold a similarly spec'd Cannondale here in the Tampa market for $200

If your trying 'flip' forget it.

The tubing is Fuji's in house brand.

+1 Over priced for around here. I would prefer a name brand tubing as well. Just sold a Nishiki Prestige with Tange Infinity tubing for a lot less than that price. But then again, I don't live in San Fran either.

Well, I don't like being called a Fred,.......but I am one. It sure beats being called a Poseur. Since I'm just over the Clyde limit I can't be called Weight Weenie, and no way would I be mistaken for OCP. Let's see, did I leave any group out?
As for the Fuji, I've got an 86 that I've not ridden in quite a while. For what ever reason, my 86 refuses to weigh more than 21 lbs on my scale and is one of the lighter bikes that I have. It's a nice riding bike, but not spectacular. I think miamijim hit the price point right on, add $50 for your area being a high market and you've got your price. It looks like a ride ready bike and that helps at that price. IMHO, I like those rims. Also, consider some really low end vintage stuff is being listed at $150 around here. That doesn't mean it's selling, but some folks think that old rusty, stiff chain bike is worth a lot. At least your guy is selling a nice bike for the bucks. See if you can get him down to $250 and check it out thoroughly! If you're going to fixie the bike, please don't ruin the frame, it may not be high end, but it's a solid mid-level bike and too nice to be neutered.

Here's a catalog of the '85 Team model.

https://www.classicfuji.com/TeamFuji_1985_Page.htm

Too much for the bike. It is Fuji quad butted cro-mo. Not particularly top notch. It'll probably weigh just under 23 pounds. Final result will depend on how light the wheel set is. A good bike for about $250

Your humble servant,

Steve

I got my '85 for quite a bit less in Atlanta. I love it and all, but I couldn't justify spending that much for it. Isn't there a Fuji Opus for sale somewhere in your area for $250? That would be well worth it.

Edit: Nevermind on the Opus. It was in Los Angeles and was last posted quite a while ago. Probably sold.

I don't understand how you could consider a Fuji Team that isn't blue/yellow!

I got mine for 200 and that was in Long Island, NY. Granted, not in the middle of Manhattan, but still an inflated bike market. That's not a great price you're looking IMHO. The Valite tubing is nice but not Reyn. Colum. Tange nice.

Scott: Please don't tempt me. If I keep reminding myself that I just got this bike, I can convince myself I don't need that Opus.

Yes, need vs. want. I struggle with that quite a bit. Can you convince yourself that you don't want the Opus? There lies the challenge. I ususally lose that battle.

Oh, there is no doubt that I want the Opus. It mostly comes down to the fact that if I give the Opus a home, my fiance will make it a matter that I don't have one myself.

By the way Scott, what is the emblem on your Avatar from? I don't think I've ever seen a Fuji with an emblem like that.
