$450 for an English 3-speed.

Someone tell me if I could get anywhere near that kind of money. I have an old English 3-speed in very good condition. I'm planning on shining it up and selling it. I live near NYC and I'm willing to list it as in NYC and bringing it in for people to see it, if it's possible to get even $250 or more.

I wasn't able to even get $200 for mine...and it was a good condition 1954 Raleigh Sports with Rudge cranks (they were original to the bike), dyno hub and fenders.

we should all start emailing this guy asking about the bike. ask him about the frame and pretend it is really somethign special.

I wish! I've never heard of anyone paying this much for a basic English three-speed--and that's a nice but pretty average-looking Sports. I've seen some super-shiny, mint men's Tourists go for over $500 but nothing else close and that's in Boston where there's a pretty good traffic in these bikes. I'd love to hear differently, but I can't imagine that this dope will get anything more than a couple of hundred, max.

After I shine mine up, I'm going to start out at a wacky price, in hopes that I get it. Then I'll gradually reduce the price to $250 or $200. Then I'll wait.

What is sort of tricky about this ad is that if you look up 2009 Fuji Cambridge, they had shifted away from hybrid/comfort and made that label a lugged-steel commuter bike. Which was like $1200.

I mean nobody's going to pay $900 for that POS advertised above but it is some seriously shady advertising...particularly if you don't have a critical Google-eye and you are lead to believe you're getting in effect a 30% off the MSRP (which of course is still not great).

But it has an adjustable seat post! And a removable front tire- that oughtta be worth SOMETHING...

And a PEDOMETER!

There's a guy in Boise who couldn't give away a Rollfast English 3-speed if he threw in an escort and a stack of twenties, but then I don't think anybody likes him. Oh well.

This vintage has been carefully restored/rebuilt and in excellent condition. It began life in Allentown PA. as a Ross Eurotour. It is a 26” mens 5 speed with a patriotic paint job. This bike gets plenty of attention.
The seat tube measures 20 -3/4” from the center of the crank to the top of tube.
A cross section of the chrome fenders reveal a raised formed stepped arrangement as opposed to just a single stamped arch as seen on Schwinn bikes of that era.
The original Shimano Tourney hand brake actuators with Shimano pads operate properly and the wheels run true. New tires and tubes - 26 x 1-3/8” The rims are Van Schothorst 590 (Holland). The aluminum rear package tray was made by Pletscher (Switzerland) and has a spring loaded hold down which lays flat when not in use.
The Cloud 9 seat (also known as the couch) is extremely comfortable.
Speedometer is a NOS (new old stock) Stewart Warner Cadet
The most amazing and unique feature of this bike is it’s ability to shift gears while coasting!
This bike incorporates a unique Shimano freewheel arrangement –The ratcheting freewheel mechanism is located in the pedal crank set, not in the rear wheel. This is a 1965 Murray Monaco. I dismantled it and repainted it, an had some custom wheels built for it (the most valuable part). It's not really the right size for me, so I want to sell it at cost, which is about $325
