re: Peugeot 12 Speed Vintage Bike - $500 (Madison/Brooklyn)

"Peugeot 12 Speed Vintage Bike 1983"

So... are you trying to sell that bike, or just bragging about it?

If you're looking to sell it, maybe you'd like to tell people a bit about it, like what size it is, what components it has, etc. And maybe, just maybe, a picture (of the bike) could be helpful.

I mean, seriously... do you honestly think someone is going to shell out $500 over an ad like that? Try a little effort, man.

The original ad showed this picture only and for obvious reasons, I wanted to see more pictures.
Perhaps not stolen, but clearly, this person does have the sun shining out of his a55.

That obvious front end damage is a shame - this is a perfect Chicago city commuter bike.

1969 Schwinn Varsity Gold $1675. Must be a rare Alaska version with real Nome gold plating instead of a paint.

I'm trying to figure out how this bike can be fully functional with one pedal.

This one makes my eyes hurt just to look at it. Plus the drive train setup makes me cringe.

When the new owner gets run over, they just need to chain it to the nearest tree.

I wouldn't ride a ghost bike.

Shogun single gear - $200 (West Loop)

I was just thinking that I don't see anywhere near as many old Shogun bikes for sale as some of the other bikes from that era. I liked them when I was a kid.

I like UO-8s but I could never imagine doing this to one.

And why would anyone build a fringe bike only to sell it after less than 50 miles?

[h=2]https://raleigh.craigslist.org/bik/3751778823.html

1970 Peugeot - One-of-a kind fixed gear - $850 (Chapel Hill)[/h]

This is truly one of a kind! I bought the frame from the original owner who bought it new in 1971. I stripped the paint off the frame except in key areas, wire brushed it and applied a clear coat on it. The pictures don't do justice. I built it fixed gear with top components. I went for a modern and classic combo. I've only ridden it a handful of times. Easily less than 50 miles on it since rebuilt.

Size 56cm
FSA carbon cranks with external BB
Velocity hollow bolt hubs with seal cartridge bearings
Velocity Aerohead rims
Brooks saddle

Will include chrome drop bars as well.

I see a lot of bikes like this on CL were I'm at in Denver low end road bikes over built into fixies with almost no miles on them. I figure the owners foolishly spent a tone of money a poorly thought out build and are trying to get there money back out of the bike. It also seems most of these bikes don't sell and the owners keep relisting them at unrealistic prices.

I would call this thing a Single Speed shaped object. I for one hate it when people call conversions or even new Fixies track bikes 90% plus of the bikes I see advertised as track bikes just aren't track bikes.

Yet another wacky FG/SS speed from Denver looks like a nice proffesional build. Look close and you will spot what is wackey on this one other than the price.
