It's not just you. Being in Milwaukee, I check the Chicago CL ads pretty frequently. A lot of folks down there seem to think that any late '70s Schwinn that hasn't completely fallen apart is worth $300+

Don't you see the logic? Schwinn manufactured in Chicago for decades. We probably have more Schwinns per capita than anywhere else in the world. Obviously, we have cornered the market on Varsity, Racer and Breeze bikes and can charge any ridiculous price we want for them, because nobody else can possibly have any.

On the plus (or is this minus?) side, my wife keeps dragging home cheap or free Schwinns. Consequently, I never lack for bike projects.

I'm just guessing, but I suspect the missing fork in this one might require a bit more explanation than, "No fork, sorry":

https://www.ebay.com/itm/151059141022

Aside from the catastrophic fork failure, it looks like a fairly interesting bike.

Yep! Those appear to be brand spanking new rotors alright! And is that rust on those brake actuators, as well?

I also like the worn out Grab ons mismatched brake and turkey lever. Old brake hanger left on bike and poor setup. This has to be one of the worste supposed shop built fixies I have every seen.

I know that people get units mixed up, but it still makes me laugh:

2012 Jamis 48" women's road bike - $695

That and the lack of any mention of the missing seat indicates it was perhaps made to order for Vlad the Impaler... especially at 48".

I don't know what "break pads" are, but if they exists, I believe this bike has 'em.

[h=2] Stolen bicycles. New ones arrive daily. (Under MLK Viaduct @ SE Division Place)[/h]

+-

Powered by LeafletTerms

SE Division Place at Grand Ave

Homeless camp under the viaduct. In the morning, there are maybe half a dozen; sometimes more. By evening, they are disassembled. Most get scrapped. Nicer ones get a coat of spray paint and repurposed. Several bikes stolen from the neighborhood to the east have turned up there. It's always "Some guy gave it to me". You'll also see other random stuff, such as a large spool of electrical wire (probably stolen from a construction site) as well as pools of urine, hypodermics, garbage piled all over the place, beer and wine bottles. Missing a bike? The half dozen to dozen people who live, pee, and poop there have had more than their share of stolen bikes.SE Division Place at Grand Ave (google map) (yahoo map)

Philadelphia - the city where hipsters never learn.

"I am selling my IRO size 49cm includes everything but wheelset I do have a garage with bunch of parts and some wheelsets so if you possibly want to come by and figure something out im open to that. Also open to offers. Wheel pictured is not avail. Sorry for some reason phone wouldn't let me post with out a pic."

Note - in the above ad, the wheel was the ONLY THING the seller had a picture for.

"I got 3 gears put on to make it easier to go up those big Philly hills at a cost of $130. So it is now a three speed instead of a no-speed."

vintage used raleigh griffter bike - $2200

Because ratrod bikes are always going to be worth more than a Colnago or a Tommasini.

This guy think his defy 5 is a defy 1 with 105 components. Says he bought for 1800$ from dealer with aero-bar. Well, that's some expensive aero bar for 1200$+. '12 Defy 5's MSRP is 700$ for God's sakes.

He is just a crook. These mistakes are impossible to make as an naive seller. Asking 930$, must go today, willing to negotiate. Willing to negotiate alright. He is going to drop the price to $600 and someone will think they got a good deal. NOT. All predator tactics.

Hey PARS...thanks much for posting the pics etc....im getting better with computers but still havent learned to do that yet!!! So what IS with the decals? Could it have been done at the factory but someone smoking something they shouldnt have been? Or...like i beleive...a respray by a moron.....i think those are the only two possible explanations
