Damn this is one ugly bike, yeah it's a nice FG/SS but asking full retail plus is insane for this bike much like the owner who choose the setup and colors.

One of the big challenges in selling a "custom" or "one of a kind" bike with clown colors is that not everyone likes clown colors or appreciates the "art" present therein.

And so yet another fixed gear bike gets to linger on CL - until its slacker owner grows up or decides it's worth a trade for bags of weed or cases of PBR.

He didn't say which world war. I suspect he's referring to WW-III, in which case he's being truthful.

That Peugeot - ugh. The seat makes the piles bleed on sight. One wonders what happened to the death stem. Hopefully it was trashed in the same front ender the frame suffered, or the bike would be even more of a hipster deathtrap than it is now.

Sadly, yet another bit of the boom era will die a horrible death as a fixed gear in downtown Bankruptburg.

Even if it is gas pipe, it deserves better. Gotta be some way to straighten the frame - Randy's '63 PX-10 was in worse shape and he managed to get the bends out somehow.

Calling myself on this one, before anyone else does.... I have posted several ads at very reasonable prices I might add. Framesets for $60 & $175, and this one a few days ago for $175 or best offer. None, nada, zero, zilch. Not a single response, not even lowballers or spam. Just decided to test it out, and see what happens. Just as I suspected, the flippers came out of the woodwork like ants on a pile of sugar. Apparently the only ones buying bikes here on CL, are flippers. Three responses in less than a half hour, Sad really.,,,,BD

Everyone is getting the "already sold" response.

i wish it was still up, but i ran across an ad for a masi cx http://www.masibikes.com/bikes/competition/cx-2013. the guy on CL was trying to sell the bike for $100 more than retail. i emailed him a link for the bike and he tries to tell me it's a different bike. it was the same bike, clearly. i was reasonable and asked that he at least post the bike at retail OBO.

he flipped out. tells me i don't know who i'm dealing with, what kind of trouble i'm about to be in, he knows people. i told him i know exactly who he is because his email was complete with his full name, cell phone #, business name and address. i couldn't believe this guy was so stupid as to try to scam people and use his business email for transactions.

i posted part of his cell number on cl. he quickly changed the ad. he ran the ad for at least a couple more weeks, i think. i saw another ad posted on cl about it being a scam and then the ad disappeared. he's actually connected to a bike shop in the area, too. i definitely won't be shopping there.

I got the same response from someone a while back, threatening violence, that he will come find me if I respond back. I did, and no one came looking for me. Imagine that? My guess is your guy works at the bike shop(OR is friends with the owner), bought the bike for cost, and was trying to sell it on the side to make double of what he paid for the bike. Most guys like that get fired/disowned pretty quickly.,,,,BD

Absolutely. The bikes might not go for as much as a vintage Italian/Belgian/Brit/French bike but they still have cred for collection. Usually collector's status is higher for bikes when frames are made here, in Japan or in Europe (by Bianchi). There are very few exceptions to that rule.

The Bridgestone MB-0 (zip) is a rare made-in-Taiwan exception, since it was built in limited numbers, from top-end Tange tubing, and with top-end racing parts.

Collector's status tends to drop as weight rises. Chainstay brakes are a big no-no.

Examples include:
- Bridgestone MB-0s through MB-3s and the XO-1 hybrid
- any Ritchey made with Logic tubing (particularly if fillet-brazed), especially P-23s and P-21s
- any lightweight Bianchi made in Italy. Japan-built models are less collectible, but only slightly less so.
- Ventana bikes (the anodizing is stunning)
- Brodie bikes (made in Canada; not so common here)
- Mantis hardtails
- Eastern Woods Research hardtail and trials offerings
- Mountain Goat hard-tails
- Specialized Stumpjumpers from 1989-1992 - or the old ones without the chainstay U-brakes
- Any Ibis or Bontrager built in California (note - this goes double for the Ibis Mountain Trials, which is a grail bike)
- Cannondale Beast
- GT Zaskar or Xizang (Titanium)
- any Merlin hardtail
- any Dean titanium hardtail
- just about anything by Moots
- vintage-era Yeti
- Any Fat Chance or IF hardtail
- Trek Wisconsin lugged steel frame bikes; 950-series and above; 1980s - 1990s
- Paramounts (made in Wisconsin by Waterford)
- Klein Pinnacles / Pinnacle Elites

I used to have one of those very briefly that I got in a Goodwill in central Va. I cluelessly lost it it about a year later in an alcohol induced "adventure".

I rescued one of those frames from the trash on a wild guess it was worthy of saving. Have no clue what to do with it tho.

This looks.....uh

http://rockford.craigslist.org/bik/3968462228.html

This one is far from perfect but has a lot of life left in it. The frame has about as much nicks and scratches as you would expect from a 25 year old bike. The only major problem right now is the outer chain ring (the larger front gear) is bent and the chain catches when you pedal. You may be able to replace the chain ring itself but it would probably be worth replacing the entire crankset and bottom bracket. I don't have the tools or the patience to do it myself or I would have repaired it.

http://images.craigslist.org/00l0l_j...jH_600x450.jpg

I wonder why he didn't use the brazeon?

friends, most likely. he runs a video production business and i was able to find some footage of the bike shop running some mini velo around. probably got the bike as partial compensation for the video and decided to sell it. after scanning his facebook profile, i deduced he was a fat ****** and not worth my time.
