I figured I'll share a story.

So one day there was two old bicycles posted local here. I offered the dude 250$ for both. one was an old rod brake raleigh. other was a spaceliner middle weight ballooner but lowest end ever made and rusty and so on. so he said no. I bought the raleigh alone for an okay price.

So after that a month or so after the spaceliner is still for sale. I offer 50$ dude says no and wont budge. I know 50$ is being nice. he said he had a few people comming for it for 75$ or something. so i'm like your loss, and ohh it's reposted for 50$ today. so I email and say should of sold it to me for 50$ it would of been gone already. I get a very rude response back

Where do these bikes come from? the garbage. he just picks them up then sells them for silly high prices like found.

I don't see why people have to be so greedy.

Yikes bikes is a charity trying to get bikes into the hands of people who need them for health or transportation purposes. We sell our bikes for half or less than half ! !

HALF WHAT THEY WOULD RETAIL FOR

Example: Sports authority is selling Diamondbacks for $359.99-used -it is worth $175 on the market. WE HAVE IT FOR $160.!!!

Note :All used bikes are "worth" half what they would retail for originally,- no matter where, or who, you buy them from; so dont get fooled by any of these bike sellers on craigs trying tosell you broken bikes with missing parts for 80% of their original list price. that is a scam! the bikes true "value" is half retail ,so remember that ok? Here at Yikes Bikes we fix and replace the broken parts, our bikes go through a seven point safety check, then they are test driven for final adjustments, and then and only then are they listed for sale. The only time a bike can be listed above half list is when Improvements exceed the value and the improvements or upgrades increase the value of the bikes list. For Example : Sometimes we dont have a steel replacement rim and we must use a lightweight aluminum rim, which increases its 'value".

Please Call for latest selection 201-854-8618 Thx Don

There's a downside to being able to reply to a post that isn't on the last page. You don't realize what else has been said after the post you're replying to.

Liar, liar

Look at this piece of work:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Centurion-Iron-M...d=p3286.c0.m14

This frame is toast and the jackass says that the paint wore off from something being wrapped around the tubes like a chain or cable.

Make sure you look at the high res shot in the link.

In New York, we use the word chutzpah to refer to the nerve it takes to sell a bent frame as if it's undamaged. But apparently, that shyster found a sucker, as the bike sold.

Top of my "never buy from this scumbag" list. The buyer will have a tough case to get his money back with the huge pic clearly showing the damage in the listing.

Maybe, but the seller is lying about the cause of the paint loss, and that's called fraud.

This isn't Craigslist or eBay, but it belongs here nevertheless. This was a PM sent to me from someone at the Schwinn forum about my '61 Paramount:

Quote:
Are you going to restore that Paramount? It looks real rusty. Are you interested in trading or selling it? I have an early Schwinn Continental in Sky Blue you might be interested in.

Thank you,

****
Now that was just an insult...

My last reply

You are so generous. I would like to send you the information but I'm sorry to say
the bike has been sold for cash to a person who came to my house.

DO NOT WORRY

If you send me $500 in cash I will send you a very nice picture of the bike
so you may sleep with it each night and think of what you did not buy.

Sincerely

Craiglist User
