i'm sure it was called the death fork for it's awesome looks, not it's catastrophic failures.

i actually like the various death items: death fork, death stem....

someone posted a picture of a bike from time magazine a while back. beautiful bike but they had one of those death names too. something about the suspension making it uncontrollable.

Must be a tandem-theft epidemic. That stolen Schwinn post came not long after this post concerning an all-too-rare recovery:

We have a happy ending! After our tandem BikeE2 was stolen we contacted the local bike shops to alert them to our loss. Lo and behold, when the thieves damaged the stoker seat thru mishandling, they went looking for help to repair the problem. The vigilante bike store guys went into action, called the police and a police chase followed. Finally realizing they were nailed, the thieves dropped the bike and fled off.

We are overjoyed with our good fortune! The biking community is a wonderful thing. When the word went out many of you responded and offered good advice. I want to thank you one and all including also those who privately wished us well. Your positive thoughts paid off!

It needs a full restoration and repair to a broken drop out, but is a good candidate for that or make it into a fixed bike frame. .
Well, once you repair it, it WILL be a "fixed bike frame"..... truth in advertising!

At $65 for a nice Raleigh with barcons, that little mistake doesn't justify it's nomination here.

For that matter, it just might be one of those Clement tubular/clincher combo tires. There is an NOS pair at the LBS. Forget about fixing a flat, they're completely sealed.

Hard to find Reynolds 853 frame and Ultegra 9-speed components. This was second from the top in Schwinn's lineup back a couple of years before they went out of business and cost $1750 with the saddle pack that I'm including. Sorry, as you ncan see, camera (or computer?) is finicky right now, so no more pictures until I can borrow a friend's but the bike is near new and looks like the stock picture, which is here along with all info on the bike.
