Huffy Tundra Mens Bike - $60 (Easton)

Reply to: sale-cu2pu-1690863817@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Up for grabs is my son's Bike. He received it for Christmas and rode it 3 times. He does the skateboard thing. It is a Huffy Tundra and is basically brand new. It has never been parked outside. All the rubber is still in perfect condition. I never even had the chance to properly adjust the brakes since he really didn't like the bike.

I can see why he didn't like riding it.

I can't speak of his demeanor as I've never met the man, in fact never even talked to him. (He did beat me out on at least one flip bike, though. LOL).

Someone on the forum has bought a bike from him and actually spoke quite well of him. He recently advertised a Raleigh with bent seat stays that he pulled as soon as it was pointed out to him that the frame was damaged.

He constantly advertises a rotating inventory of low to mid road and mountain bikes on the SW MI and South Bend CL.

I am not really sure if this belongs here but WOW. I could not believe this when I saw the bids rising close to 200 let alone 275!

OK also don't ask how I happen to stumble on this but a 1980's Peugeot with steel wheels, rims and hubs, for a BIN price of $800? aside from the matching pump is there something special I am missing?

EDIT, My apologies. I got confused with all of the Aerowind ads lately... This email exchange was with the guy selling the $800+ AW..
I didn't mean any connection between the two...

Well, if this wasn't meant to tick me off, I don't know what is. He's a smart azz in my book. I pointed out the original price
of the aerowinds when sold new (I bought one new) and got this as a response. I will not speak well of him after this.,,,,BD

My email..

I was trying to keep it light hearted, while giving a dose of reality? Guess it was taken as an insult to his intelligence?

The saddle IS original(gray suede Avocet Aero). I would know since I owned a new one for about a week before it was stolen,
back in 1980. Mine was $136 WITH tax brand spanking new out the door of Sears and Roebuck.
What did you base your value on? Definitely not reality? If it is reality, I have $2400 worth of aerowinds
in my garage, hehe.

his response..

Ok Miguel,
Please don't be patronizing. If you can get one for that price now at Sears I would gladly pay you that amount. I guess age does not make you smarter in your case. You know your $136 plus tax is not the same amount today right?Wait... wait.. wait for it.... your aptitude got stuck and never improved since the 80's. The bike has sold for best offer($325), what can I say location location location, Davis is a bike town bro.... and I would be glad to pay you $136 for a good condition Aerowind..Else go **** off!!!..LOl.

Speechless...
That's a great price. If it was local, I'd buy it right now. Usually the old single-speed Asian ones go for several hundred dollars, the modern multi-speed for a couple of thousand or more.

What you don't see is the Columbus Tenax frame sticker

$250 is market price for this bike.

$250 now seems about right. But I doubt it was any more than $400 new- My Univega Gran Turismo was only $325 new, with canti's and Mountech.

I get a kick out of the weasel words alluding to US manufacture, tho- these were made in Japan by Panasonic.

can of ale - stolen - $100 (SOMA / south beach)

Date: 2010-04-15, 10:48PM PDT
Reply to: sale-fkqk7-1694574200@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

my trusty "can of ale" doesn't like to be between anyone else's legs, and someone has done the dirty.
polished aluminum frame with the letters of "Cannondale" modified to read "can of ale", flat handlebars, downtube shifter on the right side only, dura-ace hubs.
stolen from a bike rack outside the metreon, around 7pm thursday night.

the bike stands out. you find it or steal it back for me, and i'll give you as many cans of beer as you can carry, or $100.
i like walking, but i prefer to ride my bike.

IIRC the later Le Tour bikes were made in the US. Briefly.

I don't know if this particular one was made in the US though.

The regular Le Tour bikes were made in Greenville, MS. This one has Columbus Tenax frame and was made in Taiwan by Giant (like all the Columbus Tenax Schwinns)

I like this one just too big. however it is good to see it is still holding its value. the catalog in the link shows a price of $489.

Haha, this gave me a chuckle. It's actually not a bad deal for $7, probably better than spending $100 on a walmart bike.

Firenze once competed with such brands as Grandelta and FMSA cycle for worst bike ever, failing to meet the standard of even the contemporary Huffy or Murray. Not sold in bike shops, these bikes were often given away as promotional items when purchasing a stereo over 59 dollars or something like that. That makes them priceless as they had no price. It has the low quality of 30 year old Korean manufacturing with the catchy Italian name...Firenze! This one has been converted to a single speed using hillbilly high tech methods. It features an ancient leather seat and "rat trap" pedals. It rides like a dream. (One of those dreams when you are trying to run fast but your feet just wont move...anyway) Please take this beauty off my hands. $ -7.00 Call me at 698-4426 (No highballers) P.S. It has two brand new inner tubes.
