As for this fixie I can't explain the price like can't explain the price on 90 % of the fixed gear conversions on the market. To me bikes like this are only really worth about 50% of parts value on person to person sale. I couldn't see a knowledgeable buyer paying more than $200 for this bike.

Road bike? Looks to be the same size as my own Trek 900, and mine is more like 18" frame size. Good to know is is a Louis Armstrong edition though. That adds to he value in case I ever decide to sell it in order to pay off my mortgage.

Will someone please tell the world that Schwinn is not a French word for worth a lotta money? Here's a dangerously rusted out hulk being sold for twice what it's worth if it was in perfect condition:

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/bik/3294496836.html

Great old bike..believe it is from the 40's or 50's....using it for garden art, as shown, but it could be restored! Very old and quite the lady!
Nice rack on the back....three speed handle, hand brakes and no extra charge for the charming rust patina!!!
Email or call (949) 675-1675 to pick this up and restore or as decor
Thank you

I for one also don't get the prices on Schwinns to me basic model Schwinns 30's to presnt are only worth $100 or so in typical condition. What gets me is how often people list common model Schwinns as rare exspecially 70's era Varsity Sports the best selling model bike of all time close to 20 million sold world wide and people call them rare.

I got something like that on my Ebay feedback " Cleaned would have been nice though" on a frame set. It was dirty in the pics, its dirty when it shipped.

And she wants $295 for the rusty toad. I sold a women's Schwinn Collegiate for $140 in beautiful condition and consider my self lucky to have gotten that.

Most clueless people are optimistic sellers.

I hope the charity is for retinal repair, which anyone who looks at this bike needs.

I am selling my vintage Peugeot competition. It was banged up when I got it but I cleaned it up a bit and put new tubes and new brakes. Everything else is still original and it rides perfectly. The front fork is bent but that is how the competitions are made you can look up other photos of them so it is NOT DAMAGE that is how they are. Email or text me for details

This isn't really C&V, but it is pretty wacky:

[h=2]54cm-Touring-LongHaulTrucker w. Nashbar steel frame - $550[/h]

Hello,

I am selling my Surly LHT touring bike - 54 cm-
And plan on cruising the beaches instead!

The bike was rebuilt this spring and has not been used since then.
It now comes with all the LHT adornments though the frame is a forest green Nashbar touring frame.
Also has excellent touring racks.
Saddle is the one the LHT came with when it was new. Replace with your favorite saddle.
New Continental Contact touring tires.
Short upright BOA stem, excellent for the ladies.
ClickFix basket.
Wireless speedometer.
Two bottle holders
Let me update with more later today or tomorrow!

Happy and safe journeying!

Kind of deceptive wording. Something like "Also, I'm selling this Rivendell that's built an old Raleigh Gran Prix frame, but it's definitely a Rivendell."

I'm tempted to ask that guy what the head tube angle is, but it's probably dependent on how much the rider weighs...

When our words come back to haunt us:

https://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/bik/3317520431.html

VINTAGE "HUNTER" 12 SPEED FROM JAPAN - HIGH QUALITY, RAZOR THIN, SUPER FAST! WITH A FRAME THAT WOULD COST $1,000 TODAY. COMES WITH FRONT SPINERGY REV X TEFLON RIM (Worth $200 by itself!) & MICHELIN PRO RACER TIRE - BACK TIRE WAS STOLEN & HAS REG. RIM; NEEDS NEW TIRE (HAS BEEN IN STORAGE FOR OVER 10 YEARS), RACING ARM RESTS & MORE - $250 FIRM'

VINTAGE CENTURION SPORT DXL 12 SPEED FROM JAPAN - IN MINT CONDITION! $200 FIRM

SOME COMMENTS FROM bikeforums.net about the HUNTER 12 speed:

I've got one, too, and I love it. Ultra Gatorskin tires, Shimano SPD pedals, and a new saddle. When I got mine a couple of years ago, I tried long and hard to find out what the story was with the bike. While not completely certain, I've got a 90% index of confidence that Hunter frames were made by Kawamura, and then built up with the full 105 group, selling for about $325 new throughout the Southeast. Hunter CYcles was incorporated in Florida - I've heard of them being sold in Texas, too - and apparently got into business for real just in time for the mountain bike boom to kill the recreational roadie market ... 1988 or 1989. Mine has Shimano date codes which place it in '87, which is cool ... Sheldon Brown claims that the '87 105 SLR brakeset may be the best single pivot brake ever, and the '87 indexed RD was the debut for this particular version of the then-new index technology for Shimano.

The Japanese-made road bikes from the 1985 to 1990 era are generally terrific values. I've had a couple sets of those mid-80's pedals though, and wondered: "what the heck was the designer thinking?" A 2007 steel frame of equal quality would cost an arm and a leg...you have a Rivendell quality frame at a tiny fraction of the price!

A HIGH QUALITY ROAD BIKE THAT NONE OF YOUR FRIENDS WILL HAVE!

Comments on the CENTURION SPORT DXL 12 speed:

What is my CENTURION SPORT DXL worth? - Doesn't really matter what you paid for it, if it fits, and you ride it, it was a great deal! Consider what you could pay for a Made in China piece of crap at Walmart that would be donation fodder in a couple of years. - 1980's Japanese bikes are going up in value every day. You got lucky!

In case you're wondering, this is what a "mint condition" Centurion looks like:
