I'd pay $125 for that frame but no more, shipping would have to be really low too. It definitely is a mess.

I like both. It depends on the Craigslist ad.

If it is a "hot" item... well, not stolen (I hope), but popular, it is often first-come-first-serve. Call as soon as one sees the ad pop up. Plus, I hate to head across town without a phone number to call for directions or to say I'm early or late.

I missed a good deal on a Peugeot PX-10, because the seller refused to agree on a meet spot, answered about 1/5 e-mails, and wouldn't simply send his phone number so I could call (nor would he call me). Some bike flipper snagged it, aired up the tires and put it back on Craigslist for 5x the asking price (and it didn't last too long).

There was a guy that posted and re-posted an ad seeking a Motobecane fork. I would have sent him an e-mail with suggestions of where to look, or maybe even repair the fork. But, I didn't think it warranted a phone call.

good for him to not be in a hurry. maybe he'll get lucky and find an out-of-towner that wants a nice vitus bike. all it takes is one guy. and he's out there, somewhere.

That said, I have come across many on CL who for whatever reason don't have email (I don't understand how you are online but don't have email, but that is a subject for another time). I always list my goods as email only first, and when I know they are serious I will give them a phone number. Once I had a guy leave a note on the windshield of my truck that was for sale, telling me he saw the buildings in the background of the picture, figured what apartment complex it was, and if I could give him a call because he was interested but he didn't have email. Figured he was serious about buying, so I obliged.
I have Parkinson's and some days typing is very difficult. If I list something I put in the ad, "No texts, and phone number required for a response. Thank you."

Speaking with the responder gives me a better idea if he is authentic, and saves me a lot of time keyboarding as some days it would take me 10 minutes to convey something that would take 40 seconds verbally.

With Campy or Full Dura Ace, maybe.. Shimano 600 is just meh round these parts. And those shifters are from like 73-75, they have no business on that bike at all.,,,,BD

Always interesting to hear the other side! I don't have a problem calling if it is something I really want, but I generally only will on items that are well described (i.e., I know what the person is selling, I don't have a a list of things I want them to check them out just to figure what they have) and most importantly hours to call are given. I absolutely hate cold calling someone, especially the amount of times I've gotten "now isn't a good time, can you call back later".

I figure someone should be able to answer within an hour or two of posing it. Midnight posts? However,if I find an item at midnight, I usually respond with an e-mail and saying I'd call in the AM (I've missed a few items doing that).

I've had a few items where I've called and asked to make an appointment the next day... and the sellers say to "come now"... which can be tough when doing everything by bike.

This guy is "I skin" $550 for this $200 bike. At least that is what it is worth in this town. I tried to explain to him that there is no such thing as a 26" road bike. He's not grasping that concept.

Twice when I posted things on my local CL, I was contacted by buyers out of state who were willing to pay for shipping. One of them even though I was selling a pair of speakers, he saw I was interested in bikes, so he worked into the deal a bunch of vintage campy tools. I love my pedal/bb and peanut-butter wrenches! (Sold the headset wrench, crankbolt-slot-wrench, and T-handled 8mm socket)

Could be talking wheel size? Hunter is a custom builder out here, but I don't think that is one of his bikes. Hunter Cycles

Yeah, this looks really appealing -- I'm shocked nobody has exercised the Buy It Now option yet.

It's always seemed crazy to me that in a world where nearly everyone, even a non-enthusiast, knows nice bikes are lighter, there is a bike called a Giant Boulder. I think of Sisyphus every time I see it.

Vision Carbon frame -- $480

Yep, that is the best picture of the frame in the ad. NDS photo?

And, I'm not quite sure how it made its way onto the US website, offered with free local pickup in BOSNIA.

Either that... or perhaps the rider read on Bike Forums that they should flip the stem for better fit.

I think so, too. So uh, you can shift wherever your hands happen to be at the moment. Like, you know, when your hands just happen to be dangling near your down tube.
