What model Schwinn roadbike?

Have no clue what model this is, I thought it was just a run of the mill Taiwan Schwinn but it aint. it has Suntour ARX derailers and Sugino crank with Schwinn branded everything else. Anyone have any ideas?

How many times are the cable end caps crimped? If it's 3X I'm the one who built that bike. Flip it over and check the BB, we hand stamped all of our bikes. The big number is the yera it was sold while the small number is the month.

What are the 4 little numbers on the head badge?

Thanks! the cable ends are missing so who knows how many times they were crimped. The BB is marked with a big 3 and a little 4 and the headbadge is stamped 0423 and I can't see anywhere where a decal could have rubbed off, just the Schwinn decals on the DT

Looks like it could be three crimps on the rear brake.

and indeed it is.. two close together and another farther away, the one for the FD appears missing too but it is hidden underneath the derailer and wrapped around out of sight.

Super LeTour looks about right parts wise and also the 4130, one weird thing about the bike is the front wheel seems dished off to the side, I'll have to pop it out and put it back in again to see what's up.

I'm guessing that this mystery is solved?

I was going to say LeTour, as it's kind of similar component wise to my 84 LeTour....with Suntour ARX, and the Sugino BT crank...should be a nice ride, I was surprised how nice the ARX stuff is...Although mine has DiaCompe sidepulls with the quick release levers...

It could have been!!!

The numbering gives a little insight in regards to the distribution channels. Keep in mind that back in '83 there were no computers, everything was phoned in.

The bike was produced February 11th and sold sometime in April.

Scooper, I should be the last one to contradict you on a Schwinn, but the Traveler doesn't have the same shifters as the OP's bike. Also, the OP states his bike has ARX derailleurs and the Traveler has AR.

Yep; you're right. I was basing my conclusion on the colors, and the '83 Super Le Tour in Dark Grey with Platinum looks like a more likely candidate than the Traveler in Charcoal with Silver because of the components. Mea Culpa!
