My summer restoration project: Moulton 4 speed!
(x-posted from Folders forum...hey, it's a C&V bike too, even if it has tiny wheels)
I got lucky on CL--I got this Moulton for only $150!!! And it's in pretty good condition for its age (which I'm guessing is 30-40yrs old). Everything is original. Wow.
The thing is, I'm a total bike repair n00b so you guys will have to walk me through the repair process. Any and all advice, help, suggestions, bike tool loans, etc. are very welcome. I'm probably gonna hot-rod it instead of totally restoring.
Vendetta (my Brompton) greets her older relative: this taken right outside the house of the seller. British bikes FTW!
I have no car, so I had to do strap Vendetta to the back of the Moulton and wheel the moulton 3 blocks to the Metro with its threadbare tires. OMG rim damage! But the rims will probably be replaced with lighter ones anyway.
When I got to the part of my commute where I take the bus, the Moulton went on the front rack and Vendetta came inside with me. Ugh, what a hassle to wrangle two bikes.
Here she is finally home at teh bf's place--wheeled from the bus stop on the bad tires, of course. At least this time the wheeling was only one block.
Rear view. The Moulton has the most ridiculous kickstand EVER. Vendetta scoffs at the rusty, ugly, ridiculous kickstand.
Just in case there was any doubt about what this is...
The name of the original owner. I have no idea what those numbers mean. (edit: someone told me it's the guy's phone numbers. Aaaaaaah.)
Beverly Hills Bike License. I'd like to keep it on, but of course, it will be removed by the sandblasting. Is there any way to save it?

Oh, and for comparison, here's a museum Moulton:
You can see that it's pretty much identical to mine; mine just has more rust.

no, the only thing you can do is have the decal reproduced from the original (unless they are still registering bikes with that decal?)
Moulton guy will chip in soon I suspect...the bright parts can be cleaned up...search here for oxalic acid.

No one cares
Or maybe Dave Moulton himself will chime in as I believe he posts here.

American Dave Moulton is not English Alex Moulton. The small wheel bikes with suspension were designed by the latter.
