I I saw a few posts with pics re: failures and repairs at the
head tube joints. No evidence of failure or welds on mine, but matches the story. The fork, if replaced, was done before the black paint. Fork also has some decals at the black/chrome interface. Interesting.

Upon closer inspection mine has welds at the head tube joints too. Need more light in the garage I guess. this bike is local to Helena MT, so maybe the dude's grandma lived back that way. He was the only owner and my LBS wasnt keen to give me his name. Going to work on them more. I want his story.

Heres's a Areospce Sport as fount from a local Goodwill for $18. I think it's a 1975. No decals but the paint is good shape. Original fork on this model was chromoly. I plan to rebuild over the winter. Any suggestions on components?

If you like your components original, you're already there. I've got the 1976ish Viscount Sport brochure which matches your bike. Shimano 50, Shimano Tourney GS, 14-32 skip tooth freewheel, Sugino crank and full chrome plated chrome-moly fork. You can find decals online if desired. You've also got the sealed bearings bottom bracket. Plenty of info and support on Viscounts on our dedicated forum Home | Viscount & Lambert Bikes. if you care to jump in. Great find!

@Akkorn, leave the components as they are unless something is asking for replacement. Those derailleurs are sturdy and reliable, and I would not change them in pursuit of some kind of upgrade unless they don't do what you want. If you change the shift cables and lubricate the shifters, they'll probably work great.

I bought my own blue Aerospace Sport about 17 years ago from Salvation Army for $18.75, which was half off of 37.50!
Same size too! BTW these frames share the same top tube dimension between this size and the next smaller ~22" size. I bought the 22" one from Goodwill for $40 in new condition and kept it all original, but with Matthauser finned pads and a Uniglide freewheel and chain.
I used my first one for training rides in all weather when I was racing. I modified it with brifters and other parts, but the original stem, cranks and wheels stayed, and worked well.
I remember having to replace the driveside rear axle locknut, it was brass, and quite slippery. It slipped in the dropout slot under the loads of steep climbs.

Picked this up about a year ago, it's way too small but it was also way too cool and way too cheap. Found it just a few blocks from where it was sold new over 40 years ago. And yes, it still has the death fork.
Here's where it was sold new and they're still in business....

I do believe mine was a Viking in that it had a threaded BB. So many parts are still Lambert: stem, seat post, crank arms, release skewers. However several adds: braze ons (a rear derailleur hanger, 2 pairs of cage mounts, top bar cable guides), a Tange fork, HKK pedals, Avocet seat and leathers, Chris King headset, Phil Wood BB and hubs, Bar Cons, TA chain rings and what is still my favorite set up - a Titanium Duopar teamed with a SunTour Compe-V.
I think I am showing my age.

Good timing thread.
Finally, after a long on / off - stash in the shop corner and someday get to you project, I finished lacing the wheels today and got in a maiden ride (though short).
'76 Aerospace Pro w/ Suntour Vx / V-Comp shift group, Super Champion 700c Mixte hoops (N.O.S.), Pirelli Gran Premio tubulars (40 year old N.O.S.)

If I do happen to find a small stash of Lambert 'stuff' what is the best way to get them to someone who will put to good use?

Interesting and good you bring the question. I find the cost of parts by sellers on ebay pretty pricey yet one could easily find a Lambert or Viscount near or whole complete bike very cheap or little cost. No mystery but what the heck are parts sellers thinking of? The other consumables are super affordable too. Paid $16 for Kool Stop salmon brake inserts. All new cartridge bearings, three SKU's, 6 total bearings for $17 and change! These bikes are fun and affordable.

I was digging through my Lambert parts to help a buddy service the bottom bracket on a Viscount that came into his shop. I was surprised to find I had four different versions of the spindles. The spindle on the left is a short, early version that was probably used on their double chain wheel models. It has a 1/2" non-tapered square interface at each end. Second from the left is one that has snap ring grooves for two positions, maybe for use with either double- or triple-ring cranks. It also has non-tapered square ends. Spindles 3&4 are longer versions, perhaps for the triple plateau models with non-tapered squares. The two spindles on the far right have conventional tapered square ends. I believe these are the latest versions that were used.

I have a problem. Greatly enjoying this 1976 Aerospace Pro so much that its competing for saddle time with my other bikes.
Top to bottom rebuild, all bearings replaced, swapped the crummy shifting era Shimano to slickity smooth Suntour. The wheels are fresh laced stainless DB spokes to NOS 700c Super Champion 'Mixte' rims and I've chosen to ride Panaracer Practice tubular. These rims are crush proof extruded ally and with the centerpulls equipped with Koolstop salmons, whoa baby! Luv'n this bike. Incredible sleeper among the lightweights.
