eBay - Buy it Now w/Best Offer

This best offer thing on eBay is the coolest. In the last 2 weeks I've got some incredible deals by making lowball offers on vintage parts.

Here's how I did so far.

NOS Shimano 7 speed cassette Roller Brake hub - Originally 40 bux, Best offer for $30 with Free Shipping
NOS Bluemels Shorty chrome fenders - Originally 19 bux, Best offer for 10 with Free shipping
new Pair of 26" Sun Rhyno 36h rims - 22 bux with Free Shipping

I did pretty good for 62 bux methinks

Anybody else with some good success stories?

I have to agree! I haven't scored anything like that, but I did get some smaller items for a few bux off. Great feature on ebay.

yeah and I don't feel guilty about making a lowball offer. Either I win or I get a generic email response that says "Your offer was not accepted" ....the seller can even give a counter offer, which is pretty cool too.

Ok, but once I made an offer, it was rejected, and I was not permitted to make a higher offer. Is this what the feature is supposed to do? I don't like making an offer if there is a risk of getting shut out, unless what it's really all about is that the buyer has to make their highest, drop dead, offer.

i dunno...There was a bike a few weeks ago, that the seller had listed for something exorbitant like 150 bux with a Best Offer option and had received no bids with a few hours remaining. I submitted an offer for 50, which was immediately declined, so I submitted 51, also declined...so 52, 53, 54 then the auction ran out of time.

At least in my experiences I've always had the option to re-offer.

You can only make three offers on any one auction.

I've used that feature as a seller and a buyer and its worked well.

In fact I just offered a seller $10 for an item he had listed for $20 and he accepted.

I thought you were about to say that You were the guy I offered 10 bux to for the 20 dollar fenders

Its so fun when you make a lowball offer and get it though. You check your my eBay and there's a notice that says "Pay for 1 item" and you're like "Say what?" and then you realize its the item you made a ridiculously low offer on and you're like "Heck yes."

I did this for a Kurt Kinetic trainer and got a pretty sweet deal. Felt kind of bad with the low ball offer, but I guess he didn't have to accept it, either.

that is true. I sell alot of vintage electronics on epay.

I love old stereos and amps. my hole stereo system I used is older and 130 watts per channel. I had a friend saying how great his stereo was. 7.1 channels and all that crap. It sounds like crap to my old stereo. one day he came over at my house. I turned mine on and turned it up and he saw what I ment the older systems blew his stereo away. plus my vintage infinity speakers help with the 15" woofers.

ps i cracked a house window with it turned up. the misses was upset.

I have not bought anything with best offer but have made one and got no response.

One time an item w/o the option had 0 bids and ended. Immediately afterward I sent a message to the seller and made an offer and he took it. That worked well.
