The bike of my kidhood

Got this Schwinn Tiger today, same model as the one I had as a kid but mine was red, still its really cool and has the 2 speed kickback hub and it works well too. Not pristine but in really nice shape considering. Its got some paint overspray on it but the paint came off the fenders with a gentle hand and an SOS pad. I'm thinking rubbing compound for the paint to remove the overspray' any other ideas for overspray removal? I'm going to put on a set of Wald rear baskets or maybe the folders and this will be my around town ride. The saddle is a bit high and I think I can raise the stem a shade to make it more comfy and those bars are angled way to much but its cool and rides really nice. The saddle even makes the same noises as my old on. Takes me back about 43 years.

Very cool, that'll be a great bike to run around on.

I think your on the right track for the overspray, you might try nail polish remover if the rubbing compound doesn't work.

I've had success with the non-acetone remover. However, I think I used it on paint protected by a clearcoat, so try some in an inconspicuous area first.

I tried the Mequires scratch X and it didn't work, did shine up the bike paint but didn't do anything for the overspray. I'll try some mineral spirits first then the rubbing compound.I love this bike its so cool to ride around town.

Try rubbing alcohol, on the outside chance the overspray is water based paint. Be careful around the decals, but you knew that.

Try auto detailing clay. Clay Magic is one, there are others. Do an internet search. Good luck.

mineral spirits didn't faze it. I have some dupont number 7 polishing compound, not as abrasive as regular rubbing compound and it took off the really fine stuff but not the bigger spots. Guess I'll try the regular rubbing compound nest. Not to worried to the untrained eye you can't even see it from a distance. I lowered the saddle about 2 inches and raised the stem up as far as allowed and also leveled out the bars and it rides really nice now and I bought a set of Wald rear baskets and installed them today. They are really cool, now the wife and I can go to the grocery together and get lots of stuff.

Goof Off works great for removing overspray. That's what it's made for.
