Great deal for someone in Sacramento? Scam? Stolen?
Decided to edit this post as we have established this bike is being sold from a BF member and is a legit sale. Thanks!

If it was for real, it would be gone already. But despite that, it would be worth a look if someone is local.

So someone called him up and sold him a Rossin for a lot less than $250, right? He must be making, what, $100 on it? A Rossin for $150? Stolen.

You guys are so quick to assume the worst.
There isnt a single person here who'd turn down a classic for $100. Not all inexpensive classics are stolen, some people just dont know what they have. dont care or they simply need quick cash. To an original owner its just an 'old bike' in the garage 'collecting dust'.
Seriously, selling a stolen classic on CL is like driving a stolen Ferrari or Lambourghini....your gonna get spotted.

Last year I picked up two old Contax cameras and lenses at an estate sale for about $40. I knew they had some collector value and I did some research.
I found an article from a well known restorer who opined that the cheap estate sale cameras are an urban legend, and are usually stolen or otherwise dubious. Here's my "legendary" find:
The point is, don't assume you know the backstory...

Sorry, I guess in my haste to post the ad hoping someone in Sac would check it out I forgot to post the other CL add claiming that a Rossin was stolen from them in the Sac area.
I posted this initially with the intent of someone on here getting a good deal, but was also a bit wary of the fact a few things pointed to it possibly being stolen.

I went and looked at this bike, it is for real and i dont believe it is stolen. The guy knows his stuff about classic italian and has a couple of other beautiful bikes. i did not buy it because he had originally advertised it as a 56 and we realized when i took it for a ride it must be a 54 or even a 53. i think he must get bikes at shows or off of craigslist, and then flip them because he has had quite a few bikes for sale up here recently.

I guess you are right but it just seems odd that he is looking for Italian bikes and then selling one for so cheap.
edit: I just checked "Rossin" on jaxed.com and yep, there is an ad for a Rossin stolen in San Fransisco which is about 90 minutes away from Sacramento: https://sfbay.en.craigslist.org/sfc/bik/1200281022.html
Could be totally different of course, what do you think, Patfromsac? Sound like the bike you rode?
edit2: re-read the OP and it is a pale blue Rossin, the stolen one in SF was red so, I guess not

If we are just going by price than I have a wharehouse full of bikes stolen from auctions, yardsales, and thrift stores. My $2 tempos, $.50 spectrum, $50 Miyate 912, $40 Trek 520, $5 trek 4300, on and on.

The main point of this thread was for someone to get a great deal, but be wary at the same time that there were "indicators" it had the possibility of being stolen.
I'm glad that it's not stolen and I would buy it immediately if I were in Sacramento. I'm glad that Patfromsac was able to check it out.

I left the price tags on the gear just so I could see people's jaws drop at my camera club.
As for good deals on bikes, I paid $190 for my old '84 Pinarello Super Record, $20 for a pristine Schwinn Voyageur (with canti brakes), and $5 at a police auction for a '72 Schwinn Paramount.
