crown race dimension of an older miyata
I've got what I'm pretty sure (checked catalogs) is a 1990 Miyata triplecross. I'd like to replace the headset, but I am wondering what the diameter of the crown race is. Anyone know? Thanks!

My guess is 27.0mm. Have you looked at the bottom of the crown race on there now? They're are often stamped with the size.

By 1990, even most Japanese bikes used ISO 26.4mm crown race seats. Even if yours happens to be JIS 27.0mm, it's trivial to mill the race seat down to ISO dimensions for a new headset.

Unfortunately, there was no stamped diameter on the race. The race seat also had paint on it, so calipers were not very accurate.
