mercier 100 seatpost/derailleur

I have a project 1970's mercier 100 ( I think) that used to be my dads. The bracket attaching the front derailleur to the frame is cracked; the level still moves the derailleur, but the o shaped bracket is broken. Is there anyway to fix this?

Also, I was wondering what diameter the seatpost is. After measuring it I think it is around 26.2-4 but am not completely sure. Thanks a bunch

It may be hard for anyone to help you with your questions based on the small amount of info you give. With respect to the FD question, is the bracket a part of the derailleur? -- in which case a replacement derailleur should also have a serviceable clamp to attach it to the frame -- or are we talking about a brazed-on derailleur mount? Some pictures might let people see what the problem is so that they can offer helpful info (help us to help you).

For the seatpost size, you might luck onto somebody here that knows the Mercier sizing or that has the exact same frame and can tell you the size, but if not just take it into a shop. They have sizing tools to measure it, and should have seatposts that you can test fit. (The size is often stamped into the post near the bottom, but I'm assuming you have already tried to look for that).

broken frnt der

Hello sb what kind of Frnt derailuer is it? simplex? we really can't tell much from that pic. I do not know much about Merciers but I believe the 100 is a lower end bike. unless you are desperate to keep it orginal any bike shop should be able to replace it or sell you a replacement. a pic like this is better for the real vintage geeks.
