Grandis made with ALAN tubings????
Hi Folks,
i got a quetion about my new catch. It is a Grandis, but on the Lugs(ist that the name for it) ar ALAN engravings. Also on the BB-Shell. But the decals sayed Grandis and also the pantographed Stem.

Alan made aluminum bikes which are screwed and glued together for many companies. Seach for ALAN and aluminum and you should find alot of information.

+1. Lots of companies used re-badged Alan framesets, particularly Italian brands. Guerciotti is probably the most common. Having Alan make the frames saved them the time and expense of developing their own aluminum frames.

the rebranding of Alan frames with many makers, all Italian from what I have seen, was to me the opening of the pandora's box to the public that brands outsourced production. It's one thing to hand over a pile of lugs and tubes and get back frames, but as the Alan was so different, it was the fork in the road to me of when outsourcing became openly accepted as it was endorsed by the consumers.
