How do you pronounce "Campagnolo"?
Let me rephrase that: What is the CORRECT pronunciation? (Which syllable is accented?)
cam PAG no lo?
cam pag NO lo?
- or is it better to avoid the issue, and just say Campy?

CAMP uh NO lo
Not sure if it's 'correct' but that's how I say it.

This has been discussed before, but I recall the 'g' being silent due to a quirk in the Italian language. So I pronounce it camp uh NO lo, but then again I also pronounce 'dog' with about 3 syllables.

cahmp a NYO lo (four syllables)
There is no "uh" sound in Italian. There are only five vowel sounds in Italian. English has far more. Particularly, we have neutral vowels, such as the 'i' in April and the 'o' in lemon. Italian doesn't have those, even on unstressed syllables.

noglider's got it right. I think, if you're trying to be pretentious about it, you might also sort of halfway pronounce the final "o" -- say it, but swallow it a little bit, like you're not really paying attention to it.

+1 or at least thats what I learned after a few semesters of Italian in college. it sounds like the noise Curly of the 3 stooges makes... nyuk nyuk nyuk. of course just as in english there is some variation by region but that is considered the accepted pronunciation
The same sound appears in Italian words like "gnocci" (the deilcious potato pasta) or "lasagne"

in proper Italian the only time you chop the vowel sound at the end of a word is when the next word in the sentance starts with a vowel. Thats why the traditional Italian toast is "Cent' Anni" (100 years) and not "Centi Anni"

yeah. I'm digging the site. It's growing fairly quickly and becoming pretty useful now that more people are contributing.
I noticed that her pronunciation is a bit different too. I'm not well-versed in Italian so can't speculate on the differences.
either way, it's better than a guy who once rolled into the shop I was working at and asked if we sold "kam-PAG-no-lee gear shifter thingies"

I just say "Italian," because if I'm talking to someone who needs to hear the whole word, they haven't a clue as to what I'm talking about, anyway, and Campy would just confuse them.
Don't get me started on the French...suffice it to say it's the same as above, with a preceding adjective.....
