1978 Masi GC tubing?
I got a 1978 California Masi off of ebay and assumed it would be built from Reynolds 531 but when I pulled the fork I was surprised to see the Columbus dove. I have read that Columbus was an available upgrade (with a surcharge) so would it be safe to assume that the bike is built with Columbus or just the fork?
It is a 58cm bike, if it is Columbus would it be SP? I had a 58 Colnago Super and I learned that Colnago used SP on 58 and up sized bikes.
Thanks

I don't know what Masi did, but if you asked me to guess, I would have thought they used Columbus. I would also assume that if the fork was Columbus, the rest of the frame was also. For a 58, they may have mixed SL with SP. Reynolds and Columbus were about the same price back then.

I would have thought Columbus also but Reynolds 531 was the usual build for Masi (even in Italy I believe) and Columbus was the option.

This is a 1978 California brochure page that says the bikes are built from 531.
