Pricey but very nicely done little mixte in SF. Note the triple, the canti brakes, and the 26" wheelset. Personally, I think that for $300 it is a very good bargain.

Pretty Vintage Japanese Clean Tuned Mixte Commuter Bike 4'11"-5'3" - $300 (castro / upper market)

I long for the days when fixed gears aren't quite as trendy and people stop putting "GREAT FOR FIXIE!!" in their listings.

Take a look at the Raleigh Nottingham 10 Speed Road Bike - $100 (healdsburg / windsor) above. That one is officially a mixte on account of the two tubes that go from the head tube back to the rear dropouts.

Thanks!! I understand the difference now. So, to complete thread hijack, why are mixtes of interest? Easy cruising?

Although - even a single DT bike can be considered a mixte if it has three sets of rear stays.

They are of interest because they are a classic design, in demand, and no one makes them anymore except by custom order.

Mike Melton tandem with Phil wood hubs. $600.00 seems to be a decent deal considering the builder, hubs and 531 frame:
