Anyone looking for what I assume is an ultra rare Zeus titanium 6 speed freewheel? At 150.00 cdn. it looks like a reasonable asking price if bought with American dollars.

No pics. Some old guy with a beautiful bike in the barn that he just can't ride any more. Might even lower the price for someone who knew how special the bike is. (Yes, that's all made up. Probably.)

Lovely bike. FWIW, just be aware that you have to take Customs duties into account whenever you buy a bike (or most anything else) from outside the US. I wasn't pleased when I received such a bill.

damn, that's cheap for a Paramount GDP frame, someone who wants to build a really nice frame up needs to be burning rubber to get one, or possibly both if they have enough parts and can sell one built for profit.

It appears the duty fee from $800 to $1800 is 4% of the purchase price which if I'm correct isn't all that bad. But the bike is a very nice looking chrome bike that appears to be in excellent condition. Biggest problem I see is that older chrome does pit over time, most of the time anyways, and polishing and photos can cover that stuff up and be hidden from the viewer's eyes, I would be very hesitant to buy an all chrome bike without seeing it first hand. Beside pitting scratches on the chrome will also rust fast.

I'm no expert, but I remember paying somewhere in the 10%-15% range on an $1800 purchase. I wouldn't even have blinked if it were 4%. It still annoys me whenever I think about it.

I'm no expert either, but maybe that 10 to 15% range was for both duty and VAT? For some odd reason when I ordered my now sold Mercian while in England I never got charged for VAT or duty charges and they had to send to my home in the US. Not sure how they got away with it.

Not all duty is the same for all countries, according to the internet that bicycles from China have a 48.5% anti dumping duty charge!

But other charges like postal charges and insurance can also be quite high, using this calculator showed a import duty and tax charge for $1,800 bike to be $200, Import duty & taxes calculation result So a bit more then 4% from what another website showed. But you add up that duty and tax plus shipping and insurance you've got quite a bit extra money being spent. Estimated shipping is about $425 from Fedex not including insurance. So just on duty, tax, and shipping a person will be over $625, probably about another $150?

The bike I ordered was a Colnago from an Italian seller. The charge of $200 that you calculated is about what I remember paying. The freight charged was also $200. At least I knew about the freight before I entered into the transaction. The Customs charge came out of left field. On hindsight, I should not have been surprised.

I did get charged by Mercian for shipping charges of $100 and $50 for insurance (if memory serves me correctly) but that was also back in 07 so I'm sure rates have gone up, but that's the only charge I got which I paid them in advance while there in England. At the time I bought my bike the pound was worth less than the dollar so I got a good deal on everything from the frame to the parts (which for some reason the Campy Athena parts were a lot cheaper than if I bought the same parts in the USA) to even the shipping.

Don't usually post mountain bikes but this one looks interesting. $100 San Jose

Lugged frame, Champion tubing, Ritchey? The shoulder frame bit is what caught my eye:

This looks like a Lotus Pegasus, which was my first mountain bike back in the `80s.

Unfortunately this week I won't have time to make the drive to San Jose. If you can get it brought to SF, I can facilitate from there. Or if you can get the seller to hold for two weeks.
