Creative brake routing.

Speaking of brakes, here's an elusive Weinmann Turbo caliper. Seller has two available.

Wow, that's awesome. So the pads are attached to spring-loaded pistons and push in when the cables are drawn tight and spin the outer ring? Or am I not getting the gist? When were those made/sold?

crank_addict 08-31-16 11:50 AM

Mid 80's era. Over engineered but definitely unique. The ebay listed set are likely an early version and if you google images, you'll see different and more refined versions. Not much info out there about them but the following link is somewhat helpful.

Oh, wow. Just my size and I've been craving a Mercian lately. What a pity I don't have the cash and am several hundred miles away! :(

Nice! A brand that deserves more recognition on this forum, if only because of their 'fake Colnagos'.

As a matter of fact I do. Thanks for the heads-up. :)

Lovely Mercian, BTW. If it were for sale near me at that price I'd be all over it.

Somec Promax road bike Columbus Max tubing Campagnolo components 54cm - $750 (Greenpoint)

Somec Promax road bike Columbus Max tubing Campagnolo components 54cm

https://images.craigslist.org/00D0D_...lO_600x450.jpg

Selling a bike that I bought for my lady, but she ended up wanting something a bit more relaxed. Super awesome and rare Somec Promax, 54cm seat tube, 54cm top tube, both measured c-t-c, with Campagnolo components (mostly Chorus, with a Centaur right shifter. 2x10 speed. Fillet brazed Columbus MAX tubing (fork is MAX as well, but was not original to the bike - the original owner bought the frame sans fork, and had a custom one made). Paint is amazingly Italian, with lots of fun airbrush details. Geometry is nice and tight, and the bike tracks perfectly straight and is super responsive as you'd expect. Components have been used, and although they work fine, the front shifter sticks a little when shifting...with new cables, it would likely resolve the issue. Not terrible, but full disclosure is good ;) Bars/stem are both Cinelli. Seatpost is a Nitto, and the saddle is a Selle Italia Flite (rare white version too!). Chris King headset. All in all, it's a rad little bike - tons of fun, and super rare!

Price dropped to $750 cash. Sorry, but no lowball offers, and please include your # in emails. I will not travel to sell the frame, but shipping can be arranged.
