1984 Fuji Del Rey - $160 (Watertown)

Date: 2010-03-22, 3:44PM EDT
Reply to: sale-nkhaz-1656194055@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

1984 Fuji Del Rey 12-speed road bike in very good condition. Quadruple butted VALite tubing. 21 inch frame (measured center to center), will likely best fit someone between 5'4" and 5'10". All components original except saddle, tires and bartape. Diacompe G500 brakes. Suntour ARX derailleurs and shifters, Nitto Olympiade B114 bars, Suntour RT cranks, Sugino SP seatpost, MKS Sylvan pedals with Christophe toe clips and leather straps. 27" x 1 1/8" Ukai alloy wheels with sunshine hubs and gold rims - in beautiful condition, and spinning true. Tires hold air and have many miles left in them. Specialized saddle. New tan colored bartape. Frame and fork color is deep 'Oak Green', much like British racing green, with gold toned decals. 'Fuji' pantographed fork crown. Minor scratches and dings. Head badge unblemished. Frame and fork decals pretty much intact.

Rides beautifully, looks good and the component set has a deserved reputation for longevity and reliability. A nice bike for the Fuji collector or appreciator, made in the days when Japanese quality was tops. You can see the bike and specs at http://classicfuji.com/DelRey 1984 Page.htm .

Cash only. Could possibly deliver close to Watertown.

1984 Univega Gran Turismo 18-speed touring bike - $350 (Brookline)

Date: 2010-03-22, 6:27PM EDT
Reply to: sale-adacw-1656433384@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Up for sale is a classic 18-speed touring bike from Univega. The Gran Turismo was reportedly made by Miyata as a Univega-badged Miyata 610. This 1984 Gran Turismo has just about all original components except for tires (new IRC Road Winner 27 x 1 1/4"). If you did want to go with 700c wheels, the DiaCompe canti brakes have ample adjustment room to handle that. The lugged, double-butted frameset has mid-fork brazeons, cantilever brakes, and two water bottle fittings. Frame size is 23"/58.4cm seat tube (center to top), 22/56cm top tube (center to center), 33" standover (in old-school sizing, this should fit folks roughly 5'6" to 5'10"). Main frame is made from double-butted Cro-Moly steel. Components include
  • Araya 27" wheels with SunTour sealed hubs
  • SunTour Mountech front and rear derailleurs and SunTour downtube shifters
  • DiaCompe 981 cantilever brakes, DiaCompe drilled levers w/ quick release and new Cane Creek hoods
  • Sugino GT triple crankset, MKS touring pedals
  • Avocet touring saddle and SR LaPrade seatpost
  • 3ttt stem and SR "Ranndner" handlebars w/ new cork tape
  • 17.5"/44.5cm chainstays, 42"/107cm wheelbase
  • serial #M299969
The inside of frame tubes have been treated with FrameSaver; headset and bottom bracket have been overhauled; all cables and housing are new. Slate grey finish is peppered with scratches here and there, but mechanically this bike is in excellent condition, fully tuned, and ready for a ramble, a tour, or a commute. Firm price is $350 cash; located in Brookline/Coolidge Corner a couple of blocks from the Coolidge Corner t-stop.

1996 Medium/Large frame. For male riders 5'9" and taller. I'm 5'7" so I need to down size (I thought something wasn't right . This 14-speed has been absolutely care free. It's Italian made and is high quality. I've owned it since 1998 and have put approximately 2,000 miles on it. The tires and bar tape are brand new and have only gone on one 50-mile ride with me. The frame has some scratches but there are no rattles or squeeks. Pump and seat bag are included. Thanks for looking, 619-248-4149. Se habla Espaņol.

Vintage, classic, rare Huffy 10 speed bike. Straight gauge steel tubing, Shimano "Eagle" 5 speed friction shifting derailleur, 26" tires and steel rims, steel side-pull brakes with dried out pads. Guranteed to weigh over 25lbs. This is a "fixed gear" since the chain and cables are rusted in place (patina) and I believe there was also a CPSC recall on these. Bicycle has only been stored outside since new. It is rare becuase most of them wore out or were properly recycled. However, I wanted to join the fun of offering out-dated, over-priced bicycles at ridiculous prices. Everyone is doing it! There are Treks, Miyata's, Bridgestone's and other bicycles offered at prices that are equivalent or more than when they were new, with the "vintage", "classic" or "rare" designation used to justify this insanity. I also want to enjoy re-posting this ad daily, or at least weekly for the next year, since I am sure someone will wake up one day and just have to buy my bike. I am asking $750, but will also trade it for something more current with a titanium or carbon frame and full index shifting; since that type of bike seems to be lighter, safer, more fun to ride and more reliable. Thanks!

Gavush, I just bought a Nishiki Olympic in a 58cm. The ride is incredible. It's your size, but I'm far from you, and I paid more than $100 for it. Still, if you're interested, send me an email (which I prefer to a private message).

I'm almost wishing I hadn't just bought the ultegra 600 brakes, levers and fd for my M2 last week. I was more or less thinking of it for my daughter, who currently has an '02 trek KDR 1000 43cm road bike she's probably getting a little tall for. I've been spending all morning trying to think of any friends I know who could use it. Sent a note to one guy I've been trying to get on a bike for a few years. it'll probably be gone by lunch though, nevermind when I get paid next wed.

Austro Daimle Classic Bike 56cm - $700 (Boston)

Date: 2010-03-22, 11:31PM EDT
Reply to: sale-m2bab-1656875482@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

I am selling this classic Austro Daimle road bike mostly because I just don't have room for it, and I have too many bikes already that I don't ride. I bought this bike for a little more than I am asking while I was living in the south. This is a 1970's Steel Frame in excellent condition. It has Campy 5-Speed Record, Downtube shifters, and a Brooks Saddle in stellar condition. This bike is extremely light for the time it was built and would have retailed at around 1,700 to 2,000 even back then. Please serious offers only, as I don't really need to sell this bike.

Looks like a super sweet 87 Trek 660 in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Excellent pics, 531 not True Temper, have seen less nice versions go for way more than the asking price on fleabay. I must be having a total dumbass attack this morning, but I cannot get an image from the flickr posts in the thread to stick. Someone surely can help me out.
