Perhaps worth $250. No way is it going to go anywhere near 600.
My father purchased this bicycle new over 40 years ago. My mother said he saved up for itand used it working a night shift job as a result it has a generator headlight and tailight setup. It also has a vintage odometer with only 880 some miles on it over that time. Wheels measure 26" and frame measure 23" has origianl components including ideale saddle, Hurel shifter and Hurel Allvit derailleur with Fiamme wheels and Racer center pull brakes. Been sitting in the garage for last 25-30 years frozen in time. If I remember correctly the wrap on the bars and tires are the only items that are not orriginal. Contact me to make it yours 864/395-2297 mobile.
Cresent Racer Pepita Special Professional
History:
"From early 1960s Crescent and Monark was actually the same bikes but with different colour, decals, badges, etc. They were the dominant brands in Swedish racing and also sold a lot in Norway and ... Finland.
The famous Pettersson brothers, with three consecutive TTT worlds titles 1967-1969 rode these bikes, two of them (Erik and Sture) on the orange Crescents while Gösta and Thomas rode the light blue Monark. Gösta won the 1971 Giro d'Italia on a Monark although that was a custom made bike, (said to be) De Rosa, painted blue. (Dirty joke of the late 70's: "Do you know what the queen and Gösta Pettersson has in common? - The both have a Monark 'tween their legs")"
"In the late seventies the company marketed Crescent as the top end quality bike while Monark became a budget brand and was out of racing. This is still the case..(but) last year there once again was a Monark road racer on the market, at budget price. ..... I ride a 1968 Monark with Campy bar end gear changers and other goodies."
"Today Crescent & Monark are two brands in a Swedish owned bike conglomerate including also Bianchi, Gitane and the Peugeot cycling division as well as Norwegian DBS and the group is the biggest on the European market."

Large powder blue schwinn sports tourer. Too large for me. You'll need to be about a 6 footer for this one.

Trek 520 56cm / 22" - $250 (Attleboro)
Date: 2012-02-03, 1:08PM EST
Reply to: stgcu-2832850952@sale.craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
1985 Trek 520 all original except for a set of cheap pedals and a new set of 28x700c clement strada LLG tires. This bike rides beautifully and looks pretty darn good also. The frame is a 22" or 56cm Reynolds lugged steel frame, it has a rhode gear large seat bag and rhode gear frame pump. The rear rack is a Jim Blackburn. All of the components (brakes, shifters, derailleurs etc..) are shimano 600 and work flawlessly, has new brake pads also. This bike has a Helicomatic cassette and i will include the tool to service it. With some new bar tape and cables you'd never guess this bike was 27 years old, it really does look great. I'm asking $250 firm (does not include lights shown in pictures) . I can send larger pictures upon request. Thanks.

Rare Panasonic DX-4000 14 spd Road Bike - $200 (Exeter, NH)

This is the used bike you have been looking for!
I have had two of these mid-level road bikes throughout my biking history. An '81 DX-2000 and this '89 DX-4000. They were made fairly light weight before lightweight was the "in thing." Very little maintenance needed on these rock solid performers (occasional tires, brakes, annual adjustments perhaps) and a great riding chromoly frame renowned for it's ride quality and sturdiness. Think of it like the Honda Accord or Civic of the bicycle world, well-priced and features that other more expensive names charge(d) much more for. There is a lot of information on the web about these if you Google search "Panasonic DX 4000" but here are a couple of nice links to help you learn more about the high quality build specs and history of these fine bikes:
https://www.yellowjersey.org/pana.html
https://panasonicbikemuseum.info/
Since my back surgery in 2007 I have only ridden it twice, though. The shift levers are too far away/down for the hardware now in my spine and I'm 6'7" anyway. I will continue to ride my Mtn. bike for the foreseeable future and we need the space in our shed. Wish I could give it to my kids, but they're still too young. My loss is your gain! The other one is still in the family down in FL where my father rides it from time to time. Here is a list of the components to my best ability:
-Panasonic CR-MO Seamless tubing & Double butted frame (Made in Japan - as are most of the other parts on this bike) TANGE & TANGE 2
-Shimano Biopace 52-42 front cranks w/Sport LX Light Action derailleur system (Biopace = A special shape for chainwheels which reduces knee stress and offers other benefits to some cyclists)
-Shimano Exage Sport stirrups
-Shimano Exage Sport side-pull single pivot BR-A450 brakes w/SLR and nearly new pads (Shimano Linear Response = reduced frictional losses and a lighter action than previous designs)
-Araya 700C wheels w/schrader air valves
-IRC Roadracer 700 x 23C road tires
-Sakae handlebars w/new cork wrap
-Specialized VL 2130 seat
-Performance CM-500 bike computer (100% functional and there is an on-line manual available for it)
S/N 9C00639 (Built March 1989, and one of the last ones imported to the U.S.)
My cousin rode this for it's majority of miles, I can only account for <1000 of my own. It is in 8 out of 10 for condition I'd say. Please feel free to ask any questions, but I have been watching others of these come up for sale and it is priced right and will not last. It needs nothing to be ready for Spring other than to pump up the tires!

Thank you
P.S. I will be out of town for a few weeks, so picking it up may be delayed. I want to let you know that up front, unless my wife is able to meet you somewhere (She's not keen on having people at the house when I am away, understandably. Just let me know your situation and I will do my best to accommodate you.)
