Got it! Basically just for that BB cluster. Much better condition then mentioned in 2009 thread (no rust, a few scratches on decals). Saddle is not original (PM if you want it), and no suicide brakes (bummer...). Generator works, tires are shot. Otherwise in very good condition (excellent for 40 years old bike (virgin? )), a little too small for me. 30lbs.

Can't tell but I think this is the same bike talked about on this forum back in 2009: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...itane-Traveler

Congrats! So how does the collapsible mechanism work, does the frame separate into two pieces?

No, it just packs compactly like this http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=14253
Sadly, the cool blue Gitane bike bag was lost somewhere between owners. Here how it looks: http://bikeville.blogspot.com/2012/0...-with-bag.html

Yeah, it's in my size range. I've inquired if he might sell as frame/fork only. We'll see. I don't need it and have been saving $ for something else, but sometimes it's just so hard to resist. Must stop browsing CL...

Congrats!!! I would have bought it too if I lived near there; it's just so unusual looking, and that sort of thing appeals to me, which is why I have the cars I have. I hope you keep it and if it needs any restoring to put into original factory condition you do it right. I think a bike like that is worth keeping.

Looks like a real mix. Yes the cranks are either Vic or Tri but the front brake, and likely the rear look like 600EX and the RD doesn't look CampIish either. The fork is a Geurciotti so I wonder if the frame is a Lemond or one of the other 10Spd frames.

If it was near me I would certainly give it a look.
