Pinarello Super Record - - Hipsters!! | road | City of Toronto | Kijiji

Sorry don't know how to post pics, and posting from work. Too small for me, but a real deal for a smaller rider.

This old school women's 84' Pinarello with all Campagnolo parts is ready to race again. With 12 speeds this Pinarello will have to zooming down the road in retro style.

Needs new derailleur and chain, some TLC but is in great shape otherwise.

We are moving out of country and the bike will not be making the journey with us.

Save a car. . ride a bike!

I was looking at that one little while ago. This same "private owner" has three bikes on CL, pics taken in front of the identical garage door, almost without moving the camera. Here:
Peugeot road bike, 54cm,. high end model
Bianchi Randonneur 54 cm frame touring bike

A month or so ago someone (my memory says several people co-wrote it) posted multiple copies of a very flaming, derogatory ad with an irritating picture in Boston CL/Bikes about someone else who posts lots of bikes, good bad or indifferent, all at about the $200 price point regardless of quality, and seemingly from three different addresses (Roslindale IIRC, Cambridge, and I forget the third), but with identical contact info. (They may have had a phone number listed at the time.)

I don't know if this is the same seller, but these ads do seem like it. They, and possibly more than half the nice-bike ads in Boston CL, have a sameness of wording besides identical pic backgrounds. The bikes appear to be pitched to students (we have lots of 'em), and typically portray every bike as super-special in a way that a non-bike-savvy buyer might not see through. The bikes seem slightly overpriced without regard to either pedigree or performance. On the other hand they would seem to be decent transportation, especially if they were well-serviced.

I really don't know what beef whoever posted those complaining ads had with the seller. Maybe the complainer(s) were burned by him, or are competitors, or are just bothered a lot by the same things that bother me a little.

If I was a potential buyer it would bother me a little that someone would be posing as a private seller when he is actually a de facto retailer but just without a store front. Well, whatever, if he can make money without scamming anyone then so be it. In parallel it also bothers me that so many of the possibly good deals I might be interested in are in fact not so good at all. If I was a seller, which I am not, I'd just undercut him. If I was a flipper looking for deals (which I am not) I might be ticked that he got these bike before I did.

Whatever. It is CL, after all. If the bike is good and not stolen, then none of those things matter anyway.

Rocket-Sauce 04-17-14 02:54 PM

To me, all those similar ads indicate that the seller(s) was/is (were/are) a flipper(s). Those flaming ads you mention were more than a little over the top. There are a few very vocal folks who seem to have a problem with someone flipping bikes for (modest) profit.

Maybe they're upset that someone bought something from them for less than market value and is now getting market value for it? Not saying that flipping is wrong, just I wonder if they got ticked because they sold something for less than market value (either because they didn't know or bought a good pitch) and feel like they're missing out on some profit.

That's exactly what I thought. Well, the only real problem I have with those flippers is that if I didn't have enough bikes already I might like to have one of those bikes, but the prices are already bumped up. Okay. Life goes on.

I think this is the third time i have posted this. This has been on Chicago CL for about a year. Started at $220 which I thought was a decent price. $140!!! Might just buy it for parts and put the frame on ebay.

Vintage Raleigh road bike, $50!

"A Katrina survivor this Raleigh (made in England w/ Reynold 531 tubing) is not restorable (some parts may be), it has some Campy super-record parts (high flange hubs, crank, shifters) but would require work. There is no guarantee any of this bike is salvageable. I'm asking this price but might take less, the owner asked me to find a good home for it. Please only serious bike collectors who would appreciate how cycling has evolved."

This is a 1987 DeRosa Professional frameset built with Columbus tubing. The bike is built up with Campagnolo components. Everything is in good working condition, new cables and chain. 10 speed drivetrain, tires are in good condition. Wheels are in excellent condition. It's a great riding bike, I hate to sell it but I have too many bikes. Frame size is 60 cm.

Just goes to show that while some do ok with mixte bikes, they don't always get a premium. In my area they don't sell for much.

Note that it's being sold as a singlespeed now so the derailers probably won't come with it.

The AD that is.

74 Colin Laing custom bicycle, seat tube 22", top tube 21", down tube 24", tight rear triangle.
Reynolds 531 throughout.
Built by renouned frame builder Colin Laing in England before his move to Arizona.
Mostly Campagnolo Record components incl crankset and chainrings, brakes, shifters, headset, seat post.
Campy super record pedals.
A set of my old training wheels are on the bike. Campy skewers (I believe). 10 speed setup.
TTT titanium bottom bracket axle

I built the bike in 1974 for mainly criterium races. Fork is angled more like a road bike, allowing use for longer roadraces and training. Tubular tires. I had other bikes for riding around town and training in the rain. Brakes are set up for a crit, so rear cluster can be shifted right hand and rear brake squeezed left hand. Rear brake under stays because....cool and lower moment when turning. Saved me 0.00000002 miliseconds in a 10 mile race!

Bike is ridable as it stands. I rode it maybe 10 miles last year with my son. Never crashed.

Son is looking for a used downhill bike. Would be willing to trade for a downhill bike or will be using the money to buy one used.

Feel free to ask for specific measurements or pictures or to come evaluate it. It has spent most of its life hanging in my basement.

1989 Trek 660 Steel road frame USA

Burlington, Vermont

I have a 1989 Trek 660 road frame. The frame and fork are USA made. Steel lugged frame. I bought this past fall to build up as a road bike but didn't get around to it. Looking to make some room in my garage.
TT 23.5"
BB to top of seat tube 25"
Downtube to bottom bracket 25.5"
I'm 6'1" and I think this frame would have been a perfect fit for me. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please come check it out in person. It has some wear but no major dents or scratches. Would make a great project bike $90 OBO
