Hetchins Scorpion Bonum, Fuji Titanium, Cadex Road Bikes[h=2]Hetchins Scorpion Bonum, Fuji Titanium, Cadex Road Bikes - $350 (White Bear Lake)[/h]

Dad can't bike any more due to health reasons. Time to liquidate some of his babies. He was an Old School biker for years. Only think left of his collection that he's selling are a rare 80's Hetchins Scorpion Bonum, a rare Fuji Titanium from late 80's, and a not so rare Giant Cadex 980c carbon fiber bike.

I believe the prices are on the very low side of fair, bordering on wow. If I'm wrong and you can show me evidence, I'm happy to rethink (but I'm fairly adept at pricing and used to be an avid biker as well).

More info to follow (exact sizes and such), but to get the ball rolling since they are moving soon:

-Hetchins hung on the wall the whole time he owned it. He has never ridden it. I have no idea if it was ever ridden. Front chain ring says no, but inner edges of front deraileur shows light scratches/wear, so probably more than just spinning it on the stand. Currently sew-ups (one tire missing). Hetchins doesn't date-stamp their frames. From the Hetchins Forum tips it appears to be about mid-80's build. Campy. Price $1300

-Fuji Titanium. Guessing late 80's, you can probably decode the date stamps if you care. Dura-ace. One of dad's favorite rides. It has some miles on it, but it's in good shape. I'm not gonna clean it up, I'll let you do that. Turn-key. Inflate tires and go. Price $600

-Cadex 980c. Carbon fiber bonded to aluminum lugs. Rides nice. Mostly 105/100/RSX. If I remember correctly this one is a bit smaller than the other two. $350

Sizes coming from dad, but he's about 5'7" and he tended to ride bikes a bit on the bigger side due to touring. I'm 6'1" and could ride any of them, although the Cadex would feel a little cramped. I believe the Cadex is about 54cm and the other two around 56cm? We can cross that bridge if you are serious, or just come out to White Bear and fit them yourself (just remember you won't be riding the Hetchins, as they are sew-ups and one is missing). The other two, we can inflate the tires.

Christ I just want someone to buy this thing already! I have a Japanese built touring bike from the 80's and I'm actively trying to REDUCE my number of projects.

Still this is a killer deal . . .

Link To Ad

"This is a great commuter bike, most likely made in the 1970's and still in amazing condition. 700 c wheels, which were recently replaced. 18 speed. Tall frame, for 6' tall (or more) rider. Araya, made in Japan, so the shifters are a different style. Could use a tune up, as it sat for a year in the garage, but otherwise ready to go."

Asking $140

My favorite part of this ad is, "Araya, made in Japan, so the shifters are a different style..." ? Seems the reason the price is (attractively) low is the seller doesn't know s**t from shinola with respect to bikes.

EXACTLY, I have a friend who's thinking he's going to buy it, use it for the next few months and then sell it before he has to fly back east for the year. With some minor cleaning up / good photos that would sell for closer to $300 I'd imagine.

I think the only hitch in that idea is the size. I would suggest you have to be at least 6' to ride it, and I'm six foot, and I think it might be too tall for me.

It would be a great touring bike though, at that price, it might be worth buying for the parts alone, and then finding the right size frame.

Quintana Roo Tequilo

Just found this on Kijiji in Ottawa.. I'd never heard of Quintana Roo until I started Googling. Apparently they make triathlon bikes exclusively. This one's been converted to a single-speed, but for the price, it's tempting to pick up just to have in the garage.

I should have never started looking at Craigslist for areas far away. It's amazing the price variation.

Here is a Miyata 1000 maybe priced high. I don't really know the going rate for these. Miyata 1000 LT Full Touring Bike
