The later, 85-on, two-tens are sleeper touring bargains. Triple butted chro-mo cantis, etc. The early ones, not so much.

I love Miyata's, I own two of them, one I bought new and the other used, the mid to high end bikes are the good ones, those lower end models was nothing spectacular, better than the Schwinns I mentioned but that's about it.

I have had several mid 80's Miyata's and they all have been great. The 85's and onward do have triple butted. My first was an 85 Miyata 210. I don't think the one advertized is an 85 though. It doesn't have the rear rack brazons like mine did. I looked quickly and it might be an 82 based on when they started having brazons on the 210s.
300 seems high for it. I wouldn't pay more than 200 for one in mint condition. I got mine for 160 in great shape. My friend got a mint '85 Miyata 110 for 200.

The 210, 610, and 1000 were the Miyata touring series.
Normally I would agree with you, but it really wasn't really the bottom of the line just the bottom of the road line. I wouldn't pay $150 for it either, but when crappy and heavy Schwinn Varsity's, Continental's, and Suburban's sell for $75 to $125 this bike is better than those! Understand, I wouldn't spend the gas to get a free one of those Schwinns but that's just me...unless it was in brand new condition than maybe I would spend the gas. If the condition of the Miyata is like new or excellent then $150 to maybe $200 tops is fair, but the components were lower end stuff and bike weighed about 27 to 28 pounds, it doesn't matter if it was triple butted CroMoly, it used thick tubes. This bike WAS NOT the touring series, it was the sport series.

In the early 80's the 210's were sport bikes, all Miyata did was in the mid 80's is called them touring bikes, but if you look at the geometry of the bike it was still a sport bike and not a touring bike. You can put stripes on a lion and call him a zebra all day but it's still a lion. Miyata reclassified the bike after problems with all manufactures selling sport bikes because they fell in classification crack in the floor that people couldn't understand the purpose of.
Go here and scan the catalogues every year for 210 starting in 1982 by putting the year into the search box to get the particular year of bikes. https://www.miyatacatalogs.com/2007/1...alog-1981.html The 210 was basically the equivelant of a Schwinn Traveler which was sport frame as well that they called a touring bike even though it had nothing in common in geometry with their real touring bikes the Voyager, and since Miyata did not make a touring bike in their regular line (Koga Miyata did) they simply reclassified an old bike model that started life as a sport.
I don't want to argue over semantics, the real point is it was a fairly low end bike on par with a Schwinn Traveler and not any where near worth $300 even if you want to label it a touring bike.

We're all right! The 85 Two-Ten is a real touring bike. That advertised 210 is not, and isn't worth asking price. Here's my mostly original '85 Two-Ten that I wouldn't sell for under $500.

99% sure it's a 1983 720 (https://www.vintage-trek.com/images/t...churePart2.pdf), looks to be mostly complete/original, minus the saddle and possibly the bars. Not sure why the seatpost decal is gone as well.
Previously, he had it listed for $400, which would be a pretty fair price, IMHO (hell, I spent $500 for my '85 620)
