Yeah, that Grand Sports is a great deal, the wheels look to have been upgraded as well. You could always buy it and post up the frame in the "Frame Doesn't Fit Pass Around" thread and trade it for something that fits.

Here is another good deal on a Raleigh in Minneapolis, it looks like you just need some tires and a seat but the bike itself looks brand new:

Raleigh Carlton Competition

I'd buy this if my size.

Gorgeous, RARE vintage steel 56CM Le Croco road racing bike
[h=2]Gorgeous, RARE vintage steel 56CM Le Croco road racing bike - $750 (Hastings Sunrise)[/h]

condition: excellent size / dimensions: 56CM

Want the be the belle of the sea wall ball this summer? I've got your ticket to ride in style then.

Up for sale here is a rare piece of Canadian cycling history, an early 1980's, sunset red, Le Croco race bike in extremely good condition for its age. This bike is both fast and real head turner.

Its also got a very interesting history as Le Croco, so the story goes, made bikes for the national team back in 80's, but the founder had "problems" and disappeared never to be seen from again. The mystery, to me at least, is a huge part of the charm of this bike.

The frame I believe is double butted Reynolds 531 and was hand welded by Sandy, the enigmatic founder of the Le Croco line in Montreal sometime in early 80's.

The drive train is top of the line Gi Piemme, which are actually rebadged Simplex Super LJ series parts, that were comparable to the top of the line Campagnolo of its day. This guy thinks they're the best retrofriction derailleurs ever made. The Velo ORANGE Blog: The Simplex Super LJ Derailleur

The brakes, levers, shifters, cranks and pedals are also very nice GiPiemme parts.

The bars and stem are 3TTT. Saddle is an orange Concours in good condition with some nice vintage Patina.

Comes with not one but two sets of period wheels!

Shimano hub laced to a Weinmann made in Belgium front wheel with tire.
Shimano 105 laced to Wobler super champion rear wheel with tire.

Orignal GiPiemme hubs laced to Nissi tubulars. These had rubber on them that was so old I had to throw it out, so they'll need tires before they're useful.

As a cherry this bike even comes with its ORIGINAL WATER BOTTLE. Seriously, where the heck else are you going to find a 25 year old bike that comes with an original water bottle?

I love this bike and it is a rare and gorgeous gem, but frankly the 90's we're more my style, so if you have a steel framed road bike from that era I'd consider a trade, or possibly towards a good cyclocross bike.

Men's Miyata 712 Classic Road Bike 24 inch frame - $100 (Wayland)

condition: fair size / dimensions: 24 inch frame

We inherited this road bike when our beloved Uncle Frank, a biking fanatic, passed away from brain cancer in late 2012. He rode this bike all over New England with great joy. It has many, many happy miles on it. It is clearly from a different era - our research puts it around 1987 or 1988. It is a classic, no doubt.

12 gears. Toe cage pedals just added. Chain on works and shifts great.

Little sack under the seat to carry some essentials.

Two metal water bottle cages.

A digital mileage monitor that still seems to be working.

If you want more pics I am happy to text them to you.

Maybe you want to restore it to its former glory and show off your vintage hip style. Maybe you want to grab some parts off of it.

We are not trying to make money from this sale. If we aren't going to ride it (Frank was tall, and so is his bike!) then we want to sell it and donate any money received to Frank's favorite charity of his last 2 years of his life, the Mass General Brain Cancer Research Center.

Please no scammers. We know all of them. Don't waste your time or mine.

It didn't take long for someone to take advantage of that deal. I think I would have at least cleaned it up a little before just tacking $300 onto the price tag; I'm just jealous .

I actually didn't notice the bar tape and therefore take back anything negative that I said.

If you were hypothetically interested in this frame would you be worried about rust in the bottom bracket shell? Can't tell for sure it is rust. I am shopping for a frame and new to buying used frames/bikes.

Do you think the bottom bracket would have to be chased and faced before building or would it be a good idea due to corrosion?

Reynolds 520 and 531 are not the same. 520 is Cr-Mo. 531 is Mn-Mo. Bottom bracket chasing at my LBS in NYC is $20. It's not a show stopper.

Miyata bikes tend to be priced high in the Boston area. I'd consider that bike for around $100 in order to fix it up but that's about it.

RB-1 , was shimano 600 still around in 1992 though? Ask @ 450 looks average but dont follow rb-1 value too closely. Does look to have been well cared for.

Is it me...or does the fork look a little tweaked? When I look at the picture in the ad from the front, showing the head tube...is it camera angle or is misaligned to the rest of the bike. Then look at the "beauty" shot showed here...and it appears the fork might be a bit tweaked in.

What's the deal with that? I see a lot of Miyatas posted here that are in Boston area craigslists. Just curious cause I grew up in Boston and my father had a nice 80s Miyata. Were they overally popular in that part of the country?

Interesting. Well, 520 seems higher on the pecking order on the Reynolds site. If I buy a Lemond frame I'll probably hold out for an 853.
