Could be.. although the ad doesn't mention what it is, so it could be that she doesn't know what she has.

The wheels alone, even though they don't match, are worth $50.

I'm a 5 hour drive away, or I'd be on it.

Bertoni Custom Racing Bike
[h=2]Bertoni Custom Racing Bike - $750 (Bedford, MA)[/h]

condition: new

Bertoni custom racing bike with all Shimano 600 parts. All parts are original except for the gears which was replaced with a new Shimano gear set. This bike was custom built in 1989 by an Italian professional bike racer and has been owned by one family. The bike has new Bontrager racing tires that have only been used once. It has a few paint chips but the frame is totally sound, never had any problems. It currently has pedals with footholders that come with the bike. A speedometer has also been attached which works great but is in need of a battery replacement. This Bertoni was made in Italy and is ready to ride and race. Asking $750 OBO, send me your price and we can negotiate.

That's weird, a Trek 660 with Suntour Superbe and Reynolds dble butted 531cs tubing, like the 84 that I own myself, only sells for $200 to $400, yet a 84 Fuji Club with mid level Suntour ARX and Fuji Valite 1769 quad butted tubing can sell for $800...can anyone shed any light as to why this is?

That is a Nishiki "Saga" model. I ran into one for the first time last year. It is all you said, and they are very nice. It is, essentially, a drop bar rigid mountain bike. Perfect for a commuter or a long haul tourer.
