Welcome! I suggest you start a new thread, somebody is bound to know and you'll get a broader audience than this thread which isn't about IDing anyway.

Here's a "rare find" for you.
"Rare Find - Vintage All Chrome Genuine Low Rider 20" Bicycle"
"the rims and many of the spokes are in poor condition - it has been stored for many years and they didn't protect the wheels from corrosion - it will need new rims and spokes"
"$500 Cash or best serious offers may be considered - don't waste my time with bullcrap offers, I only delete them..."
Rare Find - Vintage All Chrome Genuine Low Rider 20" Bicycle
I really love the last part. He offers a bike that might be worth $50 tops to a certain type of collector and then adds a line about no lowballers.

I might be alone on this, but I don't think anything is added by the constant commentary on posted bikes in this section. Most of us can value things ourselves - this isn't a valuation thread. There are times when it's appropriate, like when someone solicits opinions, but I generally could do without the running commentary. My opinion about the quality of that commentary notwithstanding.

Precisely why I stopped posting pics/finds in this section.
Too many people want bicycles for flipper value and get wacky when something is priced at fair market value.
Taking the fun right out of it for many of us.........

The poster asked for valuation, so opinions were given. If given honestly and politely, then we can take them or leave them. Just because someone else will pay $XXX for something doesn't mean you or I will. Value is in the eye of the money-holder... Just gotta be polite. O:-)
To further what GMG said, I think people have a tendency to value things based on what it's worth to them rather than what it would typically sell for on eBay or CL. They then advise others with pricing that I think is highly questionable. For instance valuing the bianchi frame based on what it's worth after built up and what it would cost to get there. That doesn't determine a frame's value...selling prices do. It's always a mistake to buy a frame from a strictly $$$ perspective, but many of us prefer buying frame sets because it's not always about what it's worth to resell.

I said that it's copacetic when solicited, as it was in that case. The issue for me is when people give value opinions on most bikes when not solicited. I also agree with the above regarding when something is damaged. Maybe it's just me...and I could have expressed it more politely.

I'm a newbie looking to get into cycling I've been measured but before getting into 1k+ on a new bike I wanted to try my hand at Craigslist and have found I'm not real sure what I'm doing. Any tips to what to look for /avoid. My budget is around $250 so I'm thinking and older bike is all I'm going to get which is fine just don't want to get screwed in the process. I need a 51cm bike if that helps. I'm in Fort Worth,Tx Wanting a road bike

Bridgestone NJS Road Frame & Fork
[h=2]Bridgestone NJS Road Frame & Fork - $600 (Metrowest)[/h]
© craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap
(google map) (yahoo map)
Bridgestone Grand Velo NJS professional road bike frame and fork with new Campagnolo Record headset. Currently built up with a mix of Campy Chorus and Centaur components with Campy Nucleon wheels. Looking to sell frame & fork only but am open to selling as built. Top tube is 53cm and seat tube is 51.5c, both ctc. Rear spacing is 126mm but easily accommodates a 130mm wheel which is currently mounted.
I bought this frame 2 years ago as unbuilt new old stock from someone who had purchased the inventory of a closed bike shop in Maine and had two of these frames in different sizes. This all steel frame was hand made in 1985 by the same small group at Bridgestone that build Keirin race bikes. Bridgestone used make bicycles under seven brand names and reserved the hand built frames for the Grand Velo brand. The frame meets all NJS specifications for road racing in Japan. The lug work is beautiful and uses reinforcing lugs on the brake and chain stay bridges. Dropouts are Suntour Professional with the rear using locator screws. Not sure of the steel but I think it is Tange Champion No.2. The frame is very light. Since this was built it has only been ridden a few times.
If you are interested in the bike as built, let me know and I can provide the details on components. Price as built is $1,200. Otherwise it is $600 for frame, fork, headset, seat post and seat post binder bolt.
Please include name, phone number and location when responding. If the listing is up, then the bike is still for sale.

Not me!!
I find a good flame war highly entertaining. "AND IN THIS CORNER......"
Maybe when we're done with this "discussion" we can start a round of the dozens
"Yeah? Well your momma's so stupid she paid retail for that frame."
