Well, someone got a good deal on the wheels, since the auction ended on a Sunday morning.

I loved that bike too, but most folks would probably prefer campy on it (I dig OMAS), none of those parts were irreplaceable, or unique to that frame and I'm not seeing this as a horror show.

It's not what I'd have done, but it's not sacrilege either.

Gotta love the "wheels are 98% true" statement. I'm scratching my head trying to figure that one out.

Anyone need some 180mm cranks?

https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/bop/5296025662.html

Shimano Dura-Ace FC7402 crank arms, date markings indicate 1989.

Taper: JIS
Length: 180mm
BCD: 130
Original dust caps with all text visible - great condition

Drive side crank has some pitting. No dents, dings, cracks, or nicks. Could be polished to mirror shine and look like new. All threads are in excellent condition.

Comes with original Shimano 53t outer chainring. Inner chainring not included.

Can provide generic set (5) of unmarked double chainring bolts as well.

$40 obo

I just loved the build.

It was somewhat unusual and had some personality.

Campy GS, NR and SR variations get me a little snoozy at times.

I completely agree...it had style. I'd have kept it as is, and I'm a fan of OMAS.

There are additional bikes and parts not listed here. I found this seller to be a gentleman, when I purchased a Cyclone RD.

Wow...what a lot! From looking at the photos...if you had (have) the money to invest, it could be quite the deal!

I agree. Wheels are turning in my head ...

If I was closer to retirement, I would figure out a way to get these bikes, stay in Italy and use them to fund a 6 or 7 month stay while I sell them 1 by 1. Of course I would have to fight the temptation to keep the ones that fit me.

^ Imagine the fun deciding who gets which bikes. It would probably make most estate battles seem like tea parties. Let's see, 75 people each chip in $1100 ($75000 + $7500 for shipping - just pulling numbers out of my butt) and each person gets two bikes. But which two? Who gets the Frejus pista? Are any of the bikes my size? Who is the lucky duck who gets to travel to Italy and supervise the shipping?
