I asked and seller mentioned that he changed to Mountech because he felt they shifted better than the original Shimanos. I also complained that price was too high, and he has lowered the price to $390. I love these Bridgestones and the Bay Area market is hot. What would be fair price - $350? The RB-1s are listed at 700 on CL here.

Dang. Wondering how kind Tom would be these days to take this frame project on. Maybe sit on the rack for a few years, patiently awaiting its resurgence and be rideable again??

--Also noted the seller is keeping the pedals. They belong to this era and now pricey to replace.

I think they used that Mountech because they swapped for a larger freewheel. This one has downgraded brake levers with turkey levers. Really rusty headset. I'd let this one go.

I'd recommend this Univega Gran Rally instead. Champion frame, Shimano 600. Good starting condition.

Hmm, the ad text isn't actually too encouraging.

Panasonic DX-3000 1987 - $125 (Little Falls, MN)

Panasonic DX-3000 1987

Nice 80's Panasonic road bike.
Shimano light action 12 speed
This bike rides and shift... brakes work, but it needs a thorough cleaning /tune up.
I planned to redo it, but I have too many other projects so I'll let it go to someone who will appreciate a really great steel frame bike.
I think it's a 58cm.
Price is what I have into it and it's firm
Thanks

That's a great deal on the Panasonic. They are really nice riding bikes and it looks like it's in nice shape whatever the ad says.

I agree, that particular year used the Tange 2 tubeset which was a really nice tubeset that was raved for riding quality, and even though it uses mid level components the 105 SIS stuff works better than even Dura Ace STI works today in regards to speed of the shift and reliability. Can't tell what condition it's in from the photos but if it's in good shape to better then I hope someone rushes to get that bike, they are now just starting to become collectible so grab this one before the prices go up to much.

Claim is this is a '74-'75 Eddie Merckx built by Falcon of England. Minty looking.

I did not know these sorts of bicycles existed.

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...656542254.html

"58cm or 23" frame with 33" standover
All original except newer pedals and new bar tape. Ready to ride.
These were hand built by Falcon in England '74/'75 under permission of Eddy Merckx, famous road racer."
