reliable & cheap 27" wheels
so just the other night I was biking around town late at night ( midnightish) going downhill where all of a sudden I hit a gigantic dip causing me to fly forward take a direct blow to my shoulder and head and flipping the bike over me and through the air. results were my front wheel bent so much that I couldnt even ride it home and my front brake lever got pushed about a inch inward.
the point im getting at is, I need a good strong cheap 27 x 1 1/4 wheel. I saw a few on niagara for $26.00 and that was great but the shipping for such a item would have turned out to be about the same price as the wheel itself.
I as just wondering if anybody knew of any other good sites where I could by one or maybe possibly if any members here had a extra one lying around that they wouldnt mind helping me out with???

Sometimes its cheaper to buy a whole used bike and use the wheel from it. Keep the rest as spare parts. Garage sale or craigslist might be a good place to look.

$50 for a wolber super champion on ebay
https://cgi.ebay.com/Wolber-27-Super-...3%3A1|294%3A50
Only thing I don't like about it is no stainless steel spokes

You might want to look the frame over very closely for any damage. Look to see if the forks were pushed back, or if bulges have appeared in the top tube and down tube where they join the head tube. Hopefully not, but a necessary move if you haven't done so already.

Normally Niagara starts making sense when you load up. For example, one tire, shipping is too high. Buy ten tires, and the shipping per tire is pretty reasonable.
As far as wheels,
+1 on finding a donor. I have never bought a new wheel. I have bought over ten donor bikes in the last year, stripping off good wheels, derailleurs, and other components.
+1 Check your bike thoroughly for damage. A collision that severe would probably result in some frame damage.

How are you doing? Repairing your bike after a crash is the easy part. Healing from any sustained injuries takes longer - with no spare parts on ebay!
