I can't tell the difference. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

Want to enlighten the rest of us? I just glanced at Velobase since I was curious myself and all I see is two versions of Mod. 51. I don't see a Mod. 50 at all. How did you make the determination?

As I was searching for info on Universal brakes I came cross a couple of sites that referred to the 50s and they looked alot like. When I searched on velobase, I only saw the 51s so........ I then saw this site which had a pretty good write up and that's where I read how to distinguished the two apart.

Oh, ok. That is a great site. I'm not sure I agree with their statement about the Mod. 61 being Universal's only centerpull. There is a very similar model that only says "Universal" with no "Mod. 61" that uses the wrap around springs instead of the little posts and has red colored washers instead of blue like most of the others. Velobase says that is a variant of the Mod. 61 but I still have my doubts. I think it might have been a cheaper model than the Mod. 61.

I have a set of NOS later type Mod. 51's waiting to go on my '66 Bottecchia build-up. Mod. 61's would be more correct but I wanted something visually different.
