free treks!!!
last friday, on my ride home from work, i passed by two roadbikes sitting in a church parking lot. so, i found the person in charge or owner and asked them what was the story on the bikes. he said if i wanted them then i could have them for free. an hour later, they were in garage and afew more hours later, with new tubes, boht rideable, adjusted and road worthy.
both bikes are 12speed trek pro series 560. the first, i guess to be about an 83' with suntour cyclone m2 derailleurs, sakae cr crankset, helicomatic maillard hubs and matrix strada 700c wheels. very fast and only needs new tires. the 2nd, the LBS guessed to be an 87' (also 560) with shimano 105 everthing (biopace) matrix titan s 700c wheels and also fast.
i'll get picts up next monday and for a guy who hasn't ridden a racing bike since i used to race in 99', its weird being on skinny tires again. my daily rider is a 59' roadmaster skyrider cruiser and a 62 schwinn american heavy duti cruiser, so these treks are on the other end of the spectrum for me... but i can't stop riding them.
two trek 560 roadbikes, totally ridable for free. thats a good deal, right?

stole your bike
That's a terrible deal, take them back immediately. Any self respecting roadie spends well over $2,000 on a bike so you have your work cut out for you.

I'm going to move this to Classic and Vintage. You (OP) will peg the envy meters there for sure.
BTW the link immediately above me is excellent and its creator is frequently over at C&V.

I'm psyched when I get a Bud Light at the bar for free - you got two very well made road bikes... I'd say you made out pretty good!
