What is the best looking bike outthere

Only steel and titanium, vintage or modern, and not custom, show type.
Independent fabrication, Serotta, Pegoretti look good, but they don't have that uniqueness. I guess if one takes Serotta bike, repaints it and sticks Pegoretti decals no one will know. On the other hand Colnago with their shaped tubes or chrome Paramount stand out form the rest.
Something like these:

Paramount

Colnago Master

lynskey helix

Do you have a dream bike? Which bike would you ride in heaven?

I don't like any of those, 'cept maybe for the Colnago, but not to own.
I'll take a vintage Schwinn Paramount over any newer bike any day!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so if you think you are riding the most beautiful bike's all that counts. There are hundreds of beautiful bikes out there.

I have a fondness for the machine like precision that most Panasonics show.
And I like the rough "texture" that so many Raleighs show.
And I love french bikes, for their quirkiness.
I like the Lynskey Helix, if I had the cash, I'd likely buy it, but I'd make them put fender braze-ons on it.

Hands down! This '73 dump-find Kool Lemon Varsity. All I needed to do was add air and it was good to go! A diamond in the rough!

Peter Weigle.

Not exactly vintage, but certainly classic and he builds in that style. Except better.

There was some sort of rare French bike on this forum a while back that I thought was the nicest looking bike I had seen. It had paint over chrome where you can kind of see the depth of the chrome plate coming through (there is also a name for this but I can't remember it!).

Otherwise, I'm partial to really clean vintage track bikes.

To each their own, but I find most modern bikes quite ugly. I don't like fat tubes be they carbon or aluminum, sloping top tubes, or the look of most modern components. I think Campy C record aero stuff was the pinnacle in terms of aesthetics. The Delta brakes may not have worked very well, but damn they were cool looking.

Reduced spoke count wheels and deep dish rims simply do not look attractive to me. Neither do sloping top tubes and TIG welded frames. I also do not like the look of a 4-bolt crank spider -- either 3 or 5 just looks right.

Circa 1960 Capos have great-looking head lugs, but the unique seat clamps are a bit ungainly, and stamped dropouts can look a bit cheap, even though these are somewhat ornately cut.

I like the lynskey helix as alot but I have to say, number one new build would be:

This:

Cinelli XCr

Zipp 202s or 303s tubular of course.

Sram red BB30 (180mm cranks of course)

Look pedals

3TTT alloy stem and carbon bar and post, fizik saddle.

Bam!

Amani576, you're right "chromovelato" was the term I was looking for, and the bike in question was a Haral. Kind of wacky with the curved tubing maybe, but dang I think it's the coolest bike I've ever seen. I love the chromovelato finish, chrome stays, and the design of the seat stays where they meet the seat tube. The whole frame is really clean and simple, yet totally different than anything else I've seen. Of course it's super rare, French, and made from unobtanium, which all add to the porn factor.

Hmm. In Heaven, I will have a copy of the Golden Age of Handbuilt Bicycles, among other wishing books, and every day, i will be able to open it, select one, *poof* it will appear, and I'll go off on my umpteenth heavenly cyclotour.

Edit #2: and I'll have magic goggles that convert the image of the sloping top tube monstrosities that other people are enjoying into elegant french cyclotouring bikes, though they will still be distinguishable in that they will appear to me to have a dodecahedronal front wheel.

Are these still made? Colnago Arabasque, or the Haral, perhaps something similar.

Dit-a-dit-a-ditto. Add to the list the current crop of fat, hollow-spindle cranks. They just look bulbous on a lugged steel frame. Give me polished aluminum any day.

There's plenty of local talent 'round here. Sasha White at Vanilla is exemplary:

I swing both ways finding that I often enjoy the ornate lugwork of a Hetchins and also find myself looking at my Ron Cooper which is a simple and even plain looking bicycle save for the meticulous workmanship of the frame.

There is my 1957 Peugeot PLX8 Grande which is as close to a custom made cyclo touriste as I may ever come.
