outside a bike shop

I was dropping off a bike for service, and outside the shop I saw a tech helping a young lady with her bike and I noticed it was a old Schwinn Super LeTour. They caught me eyeing the bike and so I spoke up: "that's a nice old bike, you enjoying it?" The young lady said it was her Dad's and they often joke that it is as old as she is ...

I'll bet it's got the original crank, right?

Huh?

... just posting about an old bike and how it's still being used in a 2nd generation ... also that it is holding up well mechanically, as if they made them really strong back in the day ...

Any bike that's been moderately cared for and not abused or abandoned to the weather should last 2, 3, 4 or more generations. Usually not the same family though.
