I really wish I had hung onto that......
You guys in this forum have resparked my interest in all the great bikes that I have owned through the years.
Sometimes though, I want to kick myself for some of the stuff I have sold through the years (at stupid-low prices). But sometimes, circumstances dictated that something had to go and at the time I didn't have the foresight to see the items would increase in value.
Most of the items were sold in the early/mid 90s when there was virtually no interest in road bikes and mountainbikes were all the rage
A few of my top regrets:
Campy Anniversary group $350 (like new, without case-was mounted on a bike briefly)
Early 70s Holdsworth track frame $150
Trek 720 - sold on consignment at a bike store and netted $140
Masi Gran Criterium frame $150
Anyone else wish they could undo something they let go of?

I really should have kept two, neither real collector's items, but just nice simple rides:
1. 1986 Dave Scott Ironman I bought new - and got me back into riding in '03.
2. 1984 Trek 760 that I had returned to near original.
I've had others pass through my hands that I really enjoyed, but these are my two.

I let my '69 Varsity go in '79, but I was able to replicate it by restoring another one just last year. Sometimes memories get a little fuzzy over the years, and became somewhat clearer on the resto's maiden voyage. Comparing my Varsity to my current ride was like comparing a 60's Corvette to one of today's version, and how you look at the pros and cons of each depends on what side of the nostalgia fence you happen to be standing on.
