Miyata 710!

I'm sure this situation has happened to plenty of you guys too... So I've been looking for a decent vintage road bike for an everyday ride so I dont have to take my 1970 Paramount everywhere(I get a little paranoid leaving it around sometimes). I had been checking Clist in Buffalo for a while and found an 89' Panasonic DX 6000 and I was going to check it out on Sunday when an hour before I leave this Miyata 710 gets posted so I run over there and get it for quite a bargain. Problem is I still need another bike because this one is such a beauty too, hehe, although my wife says I'm done collecting for this season. For 180 bucks though, this baby needs nothing but pavement! Sorry about the pic quality, thats also on my list.

NICE score! is that an '85?

And, yes, you do need another ride to be your daily "beater".

If your wife asks you how many more bikes you need, you can use my reply to mine: "Just one more."

Yes it is an 85, and there wasn't a speck of dirt on it either! And my wife has heard the "one more" response from me about ten times this year, hehe but she is starting not to mind the clunkers i find for free and flip provided they're not in the apartment for more than a week.

Funny, I use the same excuse internally when I look for another bike. It's always: I need one to run to the post office with. Then either it turns up to be too nice or I put expensive components on it.

In other words, the hobby finances itself.

I had one of the earlier Miyata mountain bikes. 1984 model, I think. That was when I bought it anyway. Really beautiful metal work.

I've heard that they have given up on their bicycle line. Is this true?

It would be a pity.

Miyata still sells bikes, just mainly on Japan now, and i just read that they have a joint venture with the Dutch to sell bikes in Europe under the name Koga-Miyata. They have a catalog and everything online.
