It can happen, but it's not the norm in my experience. The sooner you dunk or soap to find and mark the leak, the less like it is that the tube will shift out of position.

lotek and delicious, I found a
on the web, but it's terrible. I'll do a little more googling, but I think you're right that there may not be pictures.

Does anyone have Glenn's Manual of Bicycle Repair? That book had everything, including how to fix three speed hubs and coaster brake hubs and how to hot patch a puncture.

Don't fret about your sewing skills, that stitching might look "Frankenstein" style, but as long as it works, no one will ever know what it look like under the tire and glue anyway.
It's bad enough we male bikers are made fun of about tights, leg shaving, and other "fancy lad"/"Nancy Boy" sounding stuff, but we can always say that even tough old sailors had to do sewing on the big sailing ships of the past!
