I need a loaner....

10-speed Shimano cassette for a 'project'. I'll pay shipping in both directions and it'll be returned in the condition it was sent. I need one for for mocking up a 10-speed/126mm wheel.

Thanks,

Jim

Can I send it with my Cilo frame, and you send it back when you remove the stuck BB cup?
That way I'd pay shipping both ways.

Everything I have is nine speeds or less, otherwise, I would be happy to assist!

why do you need the cassette? To set up the shifting? That will make a pretty darn weak wheel, I sure as hell wouldn't ride it or recommend it to anyone.

Typicaly yes, it would make a very weak wheel with too much dish but I'm trying a variety of combination to minimize dish. Earlier today I mocked it up with a 9-speed cassette. After respacing it's within 1mm of having the same drive side dish as a 130mm Dura Ace hub.

130mm DA hub: ~18.4mm from the rims centerline to the right hub flange center
My 126mm 9 speed: ~17.4mm from the rims centerline to the right hub flange center.

You don't think a mm matters to the engineers who design these wheels? I do.

Here's my guess:

That 1 mm represents a 20% reduction in the out of plane bending stiffness of that wheel. Once the deflection (bending) exceeds the dish, your wheel could become unstable and fall apart.

I could be wrong. I'm probably (basically) correct.

Don't have ten. I'm still at 9 for the fancy road stuff. Otherwise I'd happily help out the homey.

PM sent. I have the 10-er, and will ship it Monday, if I can find a box. Tuesday if I can't, 'cause I'll get one from LBS and cut it down.
