Check out my freebie

Today a family friend of mine gave me there old giant Perigee road bike. I believe it is a 1997. The bike is in nearly perfect condition. It has been sitting for the last 7 years so it needs some work to get it rolling again. The only problem is I dont have the tools or space to work on it in my college dorm. It has all 300ex components. It seems to be one of the lower line of bikes, but I cant complain since it was free. So what do you all think?

What saddle is that? It does not look too bad, it reminds me of the Vetta saddle I like. The angle of it looks off, I would just mess around adjusting it.

Congratulations!
I wish I had family friends like you do when I was in college...or, did you just give them a sob story on how you are surviving on soda pop and Cup-o-Noodles in college to get the bike! ;^))
that's a real nice bike. I could have only dreamt of freebies like that when I was your age.
Just make sure that the bike is the proper size for you. It's easy to damage your body if you force yourselt to fit a bike that is too big or too small for you. Hope everything works out and you can get that beauty back on the road asap!

Looks more like an '87 not '97 (downtube shifter, single pivot brakes, old style Looks and all...).

Free and not likely to get stolen (burnt orange? Whoa!)
Two great qualities for a bike.
Great score!

I think its actually a 94' or 95' according to bikepedia it was made 94', 95',and 97'. However 97' is the only on with a pic, and I think its the wrong one, plus it has different components than what I have. Does any one know how to identify the year?

I think its late 80s actually (check the date codes of the components_), its red not orange. I had one of those before too (also a freebie), only it was like a 50cm, so I never got to ride it.

Too bad, it would be much cooler if it was burnt orange.

Nice bike!

Maybe there's a bike collective or something where you live where you can take the bike to work on it?
